I was angry and sad about the situation especially knowing that I’ve communicated and met with too many low-income communities through my advocacy work at @hungerhurtsmy and on a personal level, I’ve experienced first hand as a child being in a low-income household and having 99% of my relatives being considered poor up until today. I had no choice but to sit for 2 hours to debunk few of the most common myths surrounding poverty and inequality based upon the research by UNICEF-UNFPA Reports (2021) The truth about poverty is that it's widely misunderstood, and is a complicated subject. There's almost never one clear reason why someone is poor. But one thing for sure, poor people deserve “basics,” and stuff that helps them run their lives the same way we expect to be able to run ours. All you need to give is more respect and trust. if you can’t attend to their needs, it’s really okay and tell them what you can provide and move on. Don’t shame them.
