Applications are now open for the 2021-2022 Artist-In-Residence program at Kinosaki International Arts Center (KIAC), a creative residence facility centered on the performing arts. KIAC is situated in Kinosaki Onsen, a hot spring town blessed with a 1300-year history. Kinosaki is located in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, which is well known for its rich natural environment and for having successfully reintroduced the Oriental White Stork back into the wild. KIAC is a facility where artists can concentrate on their creative activities. Since 2014, many artists have stayed here to create pieces of work that have then been spread both throughout Japan and overseas. Artist-in-Resident program select projects with the potential to excel in any of the following criteria: ≪Diffusibility≫, ≪Internationality≫, ≪Locality≫, ≪Innovativeness≫ and ≪Artistic Potential≫.

// Dominique Ansel 🇭🇰 當文歷餅店 . Silk egg katsu sando ($88) 吉列滑蛋三文治 Yums 8/10 👅 . At first I thought this was a dessert, but in fact it’s fried egg pudding sandwich with a bit of XO sauce+mayo! The egg pudding was silky smooth and very soft, which was contrasted against the extremely crispy katsu outer layer and the springy bread. Flavours wise the XO mayo really added a nice touch of extra savouriness which completed the sandwich, especially since the egg itself wasn’t flavoured. Quite a nice take on the typical scrambled eggs sandwich in cha chan tengs and probably my fav thing out of their desserts! . Hong kong milktea cookie shot ($48) 港式奶茶曲奇杯 Yums 6.5/10 👅 . Had a taste of the original cookie shot back at their tokyo branch and I rmb being quite amazed at the innovativeness and how the cookie and milk went very well together! Sadly this Hong Kong version of the cookie shot was a bit disappointing. It felt as though some of the cookies crumbly and crunchy properties had to be sacrificed in order to shape it into a thick yakult bottle looking vessel. Because of that the cookie was a bit too heavy and sweet. On top of that the milktea didn’t taste like authentic hk milktea, it was just a less sweet version of normal “western” milk tea instead. Despite how small the whole thing was I wasn’t really motivated to finish it. . Omelette Souffle ($88) 法式芝士梳乎厘奄列 Yums 7/10 👅 . Nothing particularly outstanding out this dish, it’s an incredibly airy omelette with very strong tasting cheese inside as the key flavour.
