What if you were given the choice to either have your eyes opened and be able to see everything going on in the spiritual realm, or to stay blissfully obliviously like you are now. Which would you choose, and why?

Firstly, I think we would see the spiritual warfare raging all around us. It would be really enlightening to see that. Then, we would understand why certain things are happening to us, and also be able to better appreciate what God is doing for us at any given moment.

Then I think about why He doesn’t let us see the spiritual realm most of the time. Perhaps we can’t handle it. It would cause us to be uneasy and tempted to be in “fight” mode all the time.

Imagine being able to see hoards of demons surrounding you while you are about to sleep and God’s angels fending them off. It’s a bit too exciting for bedtime isn’t it?

I believe God wants us to rest in what Jesus’ finished work at the cross has accomplished for us, and to let Him handle most of the warfare. That’s probably one big reason we don’t get to see the spiritual realm most of the time.
