.
can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs 因此,can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs 就是「有得必有失」的意思。
e.g. You can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs – how can you expect good results when you don’t study hard?
e.g. If you don’t work out and don’t count calories, how can you get in shape? You can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs.
.
have egg on your face
e.g. The odd question he asked left him with egg on his face.
e.g. His girlfriend rejected John when he popped the question. No wonder he had egg on his face.
.
e.g. When my little brother speaks better English than I do, I don’t know where to put myself.
.
e.g. I was mortified to find that my son, aged 15, still can’t tie his shoelaces.
e.g. They looked very abashed when their son wetted himself in public.
e.g. His hangdog look told us he couldn’t fool his parents into believing his blatant lie.
.
put all your eggs in one basket
e.g. I don’t want to put all my eggs in one basket, so I’m trying to ask several girls out!
e.g. If you don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket, I suggest applying to more than one company.
.
e.g. I did not want to tell such a monstrous lie, but many friends egged me on.
e.g. If I were you, I won’t egg her on. At the end of the day, who can guarantee success?
.
e.g. Her hare-brained idea was booed at the meeting.
e.g. He hared across the pedestrian crossing to catch the last bus of the day.

Paper 3 Part B!🎊
