2021-02-24 06:30:02While calligraphy advertisements are scattered across Hong Kong, none others are as ubiquitous as the iconic graffiti hand-painted by the Plumber King. Probably more widely known and recognized than works by veteran artists, the two Chinese characters of his sobriquet, which read keoi wong (literally translate into “sewage king”)usually come with his phone number as well as the promise of “no scaffolding.”
Brian Kwok, associate professor in design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, has been studying Hong Kong’s signboards and typography for five years. To him, the Chinese calligraphy in old shop signs – from the delicate yet negligible embroidery on flower plaques to the typographic streetscape of the colonial era – are rich in history. His 2020 publication, “City of Scripts: The Craftsmanship of Vernacular Lettering in Hong Kong,” collects stories of these craftsmen, one of them is a plumber known by many in the city.

A clash of eye-popping color is greeting guests arriving at the Jardin des Tuileries show space today to discover the Spring-Summer 2022 collection on.dior.com/ss2022 by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Playful works by artist Anna Paparatti cover the walls in 300m2 of hand-painted reproductions, while the similarly painted runway is arranged in the manner of a board game of 97 modules, with the ensemble also paying tribute to the decor of the Piper Club, the nightclub that was the epicenter of all that was cutting edge in art, music and culture in 1960s Rome.

Immerse yourself in the mood of the Winter 2021 men's collection by Kim Jones on.dior.com/xxxxx in collaboration with Peter Doig, portrayed here on the pages of Dior Magazine 35. The artist's color sense comes to the fore in an eye-catching mix of dark jewel tones and juicy brights, along with a specially developed camouflage motif seen on covetable outerwear and a 'Dior Saddle' bag. The hand-painted hats Doig produced for the show are recreated by the House's millinery maestro, Stephen Jones, providing a characterful counterpart to precision tailoring and a profusion of ceremonial detailing.

「絵手紙(Etegami: Japanese folk art)」始於日本，就是「寄出一封有圖畫的信」的意思。絵手紙的目的並非為將畫畫美，而是為了建立繪者、收信人與受繪物之間的關係。 絵手紙的構圖和點題的詩句都簡單，適合任何人仕繪製。很適合小孩子學習，大人也可以玩。
只要訓練自己的創作和表達能力，就能做出收信人看到就會很喜歡的書信。
Japanese Folk Art: Etegami
Etegami is a Japanese folk art consisting of simple hand-painted drawings accompanied by a few apt words, and they are almost always done on postcards for quick and easy mailing.
