    美國在台協會酈英傑處長今天與蔡總統、賴副總統、國安會顧秘書長、行政院蘇院長、國防部嚴部長，以及其他各界重要代表出席陳志榮士官長和蔡博宇下士的聯合公奠，酈英傑處長謹以以下悼辭向兩位殉職英豪致敬：

    「我謹代表美國在台協會，向陳志榮士官長和蔡博宇下士的家屬，致上最深的哀悼之意。這兩位陸戰隊官兵，為了保衛台灣的繁榮和自由，在執勤時不幸殉職。他們體現了台灣部隊最重要的精神：無私、英勇，並且不惜一切代價，堅定捍衛家園。陳士官長和蔡下士一直相當珍惜他們在陸戰隊的同袍情誼，也了解嚴格的訓練是要讓他們為未來的挑戰做好準備。現在，陳士官長和蔡下士已經加入了世界各地、因公殉職的官兵英靈行列。正是因為他們的犧牲，我們才能享有安全的家園。他們兩位將被我們深深地懷念。要緬懷他們的最好方式，就是從這起悲劇中吸取教訓，並繼續嚴格且務實地進行準備，以確保台灣的戰備能力足以因應未來的威脅。願這兩位勇敢的官兵放心安息，並永遠知道他們的同袍將繼承遺志，繼續守護台灣。」

    Today AIT Director Brent Christensen joined President Tsai, Vice President Lai, NSC Secretary General Ku, EY Premier Su, Minister of Defense Yen, and many other distinguished guests in attending the funeral of Gunnery Sergeant Chen Chih-jung and Corporal Tsai Po-yu. He shared this tribute in the event’s program:

    “On behalf of AIT, I express my deepest condolences for the loss of Gunnery Sergeant Chen Chih-jung and Corporal Tsai Po-yu. These two Marines lost their lives in the line of duty to safeguard the vibrant, free society of Taiwan. They epitomized the ideals of Taiwan’s armed forces: selflessness, bravery, and a deep commitment to defend their homeland, even at the ultimate cost. Gunnery Sergeant Chen and Corporal Tsai relished the comradery that they shared with their fellow service members and understood that demands of rigorous training would prepare them for the challenges ahead. Gunnery Sergeant Chen and Corporal Tsai will always be remembered for their sacrifices; they have joined the proud ranks of fallen heroes around the world who gave their lives to defend their communities so that others do not have to. The greatest honor we can bestow on them is to learn from this tragic episode, continue to prepare with rigor and realism, and ensure that these efforts contribute to Taiwan’s readiness to confront future threats. May these brave men rest eternally knowing that their comrades have assumed their watch to defend Taiwan.”
