More than a 100 years ago, when my great-great-grandmother reverted to Islam, she chose herself a special name: Maryam. But why Maryam? Well, Maryam, or Mary, is a symbol of a respectable woman who has a high place in the hearts of Muslims & Christians. So, when I heard about the campaign #WeAreAllMary from Auntie @farwinafaroque, I started to do more research about it & straight away, I felt that it was my duty to voice out how I feel about the suffering of the women of Al-Quds & Palestine.

It’s absolutely heart-wrenching to see all these women being deprived of their rightful freedom - & it happens DAILY. I can only begin to imagine what they have to endure day after day. But these women are so strong! Listening to the tales of their courage actually empowers me!
.
I write this to make more people aware of it, & some of those that CAN make a difference. When I see these women, I think, they could be my mother, my sister, my grandmother, my teacher, or my friend, & I remember: they are part of a family. They are just like us, yet they are not lucky enough to live like us. While we are eating feasts in other parts of the world, they are starving & dying of hunger. While we are spending time with our loved ones, they are deprived of even seeing their family or friends. While we are having fun, some of them are breathing their last breath.

But do they falter? Do they stop fighting for the freedom that has been snatched from them? NO! They have determination; they are brave & courageous & they deserve happiness every bit as much as we do, if not more.
.
So here I am, a 12-year-old boy writing as a son, a grandson, a brother & a friend to these women, pleading with all of you, we must do something to stop this! We must shed light on the injustice imposed on the women of Al-Quds & Palestine. We can’t just turn a blind eye on what is happening. This is not only a matter of religion, this is a matter of humanity, of freedom, of fairness & of justice. Let us at least try to show solidarity against the oppression of innocent women, so that TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD!
