今天的文章：3 Ways to Improve Sales Forecasts When the Future Is Unclear​

在本文章當中，主要是在說業務要怎麼在一個混亂的時局當中作出準確判斷。​
​
作者提出三個方法：​
1. Increase the granularity of your analysis.：是去分析你客戶所處產業的報告​
2. Leverage your senior executives.：讓你的資深主管幫助你與團隊了解客戶的商業策略，以便觀察自身公司與產品的潛在機會​
3. Honestly assess customer urgency.：藉由提出問題，讓業務人員了解現況，轉變他們「想要有業績」大於「觀察消費者需求」的心態。​
​
個人心得：​
了解客戶產業的現況，就會能夠從中觀察，​
然後找到切入點研發產品，找到他們真正的需求，​
或是能夠用現有產品解決他們的問題。​
​
簡單來說，一切都從分析產業現況開始。​

今天要跟大家分享的單字是：​

brushstroke的原意是：the way in which something, especially paint, is put on to a surface with a brush:​

然而另一個意思是：the way in which a plan or idea is explained:​
例句：She described the project in very broad brushstrokes (= without any details).—​

例句：Sales reps will often paint with a broad brushstroke: “The whole industry is in shambles,” or “No one is selling anything.” Insist on a more rigorous analysis to spot opportunities.​

找到以前寫各種帳號密碼的小本本，發現當時還拿來寫筆記，去年約莫11月很徬徨，不知道到底該拼德文繼續做HR? Developer? Data Analyst? SEO? 就先上了一點SQL，想說了解一下這到底在幹嘛

哇咧原來當時我連Query什麼意思都不知道哈哈哈哈，然後中文字還不會寫了！！

OK 這樣看來應該是有十足的進步。

Query知道了，還知道了幾個我覺得超假掰的字

講出granularity覺得自己帥度+10

You might have seen or received this over Whatsapp. I'm not sure who made this but I believe he/she created this perhaps in jest, to show that despite all the escalting measures, we are still not in DORSCON Red. Like, what is the gahmen waiting for siah???

However, I have a different view. Like one of my friends who pointed out over Whatsapp, this actually shows how much control the Singapore Government has over the situation. With each increasing day and rising Covid-19 cases, different measures have been introduced to manage the spread. Each measure gets more and more restrictive, as we progress to a darker shade of Orange.

And as my friend puts it, "this shows how awesome the visibility of the virus and control level of the population is, to be able to go down to such granularity so that we stay just two steps ahead, not too much, yet never behind... which is a far more difficult task to manage this granular control than to hit the nuke button to blanket lockdown".

And I agree. Imagine having to handle all the pressure and criticism from the general public at the same time too. Of course, there will be people who will view this simply as proof that the measures are half-baked and too little, too late. I think we can all agree to disagree because in times like this, I believe all we want is for Singapore to get better so that we can have our normal lives back. So no matter which side you are on, we all have a part to play - avoid heading out unnecessarily, see a doctor promptly when ill, and comply with all the social distancing measures put in place - for the sake of our loved ones.
