I remember a time when these bearded gobies (also known as hairy gobies) were a craze amongst the macro photography community. They were popular because of how cute they looked and everybody wanted a stab at shooting them. What a lot of people didn’t realize was that photographing them was an absolute nightmare, as these flighty, timid subjects would do everything but pose for your lens. More often than not, photographers would end the dive rather disappointed with their attempts. These guys can be found throughout Southeast Asia, the Indo-Pacific and a few other locations.
