《醫院時光隧道（一）——fax機》

從醫學院畢業到工作，其中一樣要適應的就是病房的運作日常。以前我們在病房只是過客，跟病人問完症就離開，免得阻頭阻勢。而實習醫生卻相反，當醫生像一陣風一樣巡完房離開了，houseman卻要留在病房「清功課」，處理巡房後醫生寫下的醫囑。如果對病房運作不熟悉的話，往往會事倍功半。尤其是當病房的運作流程追不上科技的發展和時代的變更，就令我們這些上課習慣了人手一部laptop/macbook的九十後覺得更加一頭霧水。

這個系列，就是為了羅列一些病房裡會看見的歷史遺物。由比較常見的開始說起——傳真機。

向在跨國公司工作的姊姊說起醫院各部門各病房之間的日常溝通全賴傳真機，她一臉難以置信。也難怪，在講求效率的商業世界，傳真機應該一早已經被淘汰。我也是今年開始工作，才第一次看見而且使用傳真機的實物。

原來，無論是跟化驗室、放射科、其他專職醫療還是其他專科溝通，都依靠傳真機「fax份form過去」。實習醫生的工作之一，就是打形形式式的備忘、信件和填寫不同的表格，讓我們可以「fax過去」聯絡各個部門為病人提供合適的治療。

一開始我完全不解，對我來說傳真一份文件遠比在電腦按鍵傳送電郵來的麻煩。除了最基本的輸入號碼然後按鍵傳真外，有時候還要加頁封面，也要記得蓋上「faxed」印和致電對方確保他們收妥文件。而只消按錯一個號碼，病人的私隱就會有機會外洩，十分危險。而且每次重複單面打印文件，浪費極多紙張，我簡直罪業深重。每一次重複這些工序，我總是想，為甚麼我們不能善用電腦呢？

其實，用醫院電腦系統代替傳真機，並非不可能的事。在不同醫院工作過，每個地方「電腦化」的程度都稍有不同。在某些醫院，專科之間互相「consult」（即是請其他專科來看自己的病人提供意見）已經可以使用電腦系統，收件醫生更能即時在電腦收到訊息；但在一些比較傳統的醫院，就往往還是依賴實習醫生寫信傳真，再由文員分發予相關同事。

大概一切都源於「change management」。就算科技能夠進步減少出錯，管理者和前線員工也未必有動力改變現有的工作模式。而實習醫生更是過客，就算在其他地方看見更方便快捷的工作模式，也無法左右病房的運作流程，只能一邊不解和生悶氣，一邊默默地按照一貫規矩做事。繼續製造無數廢紙，繼續用加倍時間做原本在電腦按幾下鍵就能處理好的功課。

HONG KONG—Chinese authorities are searching for protesters in Inner Mongolia after a new policy aimed at pushing Mandarin-language education across the region sparked widespread unrest among the country’s ethnic Mongols, with many angered by what they saw as a move to erase their culture.

Parents are also refusing to send their children to school in defiance of the new policy, said the New York-based human-rights center in a report earlier this week, while unverified videos of demonstrators protesting outside schools have circulated on Chinese social media.

In Inner Mongolia, where the number of schools that teach in Mongolian has dwindled over the years, the latest move to roll out Mandarin-language instruction has raised fears that it could be the end for a minority language already at risk of fading away.

“The Mongolians consider this as the ‘final blow’ to their culture and identity,” said Enghebatu Togochog, director of the human-rights center. Language is one of the last strands tying Mongols to their traditional way of life, which has steadily eroded under Chinese rule, he said.
The Inner Mongolia propaganda department didn’t immediately respond to a faxed request for comment.

Local authorities have moved swiftly to quell the protests. On Wednesday, police in Tongliao, a city in eastern Inner Mongolia, took the unusual step of publishing photos through an official social media account of 90 people who were suspected of “picking quarrels and stirring up trouble,” terms often used to describe protests.

申辦冬奧音樂抄襲？ 網民：似足《冰雪奇緣》Let It Go

北京張家口昨日才成功奪得2022年冬季奧運會主辦權，今天就傳出申辦冬奧所創作的音樂有抄襲之嫌。
北京申冬奧委員會和北京奧促委，曾推選9首北京申辦冬奧會音樂作品，包括《冰雪舞動》、《北京》《重逢》、《呼喚愛》、《心》、《踏雪尋夢》、《永不言敗》、《心願》、《請到長城來滑雪》和一首評委會特別推薦歌曲《叫醒冬天》。不過，有網民指出，其中一首由王久平作詞、趙兆作曲，孫楠、譚晶演唱的《冰雪舞動》，與美國迪士尼動畫《魔雪奇緣》主題曲《LET IT GO》相似度較高。
有網民對比了兩首歌曲的樂譜，認為相似度確實較高。網民「土醬Elapse」認為，「前面主歌部份比較相似的主要有兩句，冰舞第一句『夢如雪在下』的幾個音和《LET IT GO》的是一樣的，只是壓的節奏不一樣，而第二句『長城內外』這幾個音就是一樣的旋律。」但也強調只是粗略對比，後半部份沒有聽。網民「陌忻」則表示：「中國並不缺乏優秀作曲者」，不理解「為何偏偏要抄襲篡改？」

Did Disney's fictional snow queen of Arendelle help Beijing win its bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics?

Some Chinese Internet users seem to think so.

They find "The Snow and Ice Dance," one of the 10 official songs Beijing used as a candidate city for the Games, eerily similar to "Let It Go," the worldwide hit belted out by the character Elsa in Disney's animated blockbuster "Frozen."

The allegations of plagiarism first surfaced last weekend in a web story published by leading Chinese business magazine Caijing, but the report has since been taken down. Re-posted versions on numerous other news sites, however, remain online.

Quoting music fans, the Caijing report included a chart showing that the two songs -- especially in their prelude sections -- share almost the same tune, length, tempo and instrument arrangement.

On YouTube, which is banned in China, several users have posted mash-up videos by taking a few lines from each ballad to form a new song.

In those clips, the voice of Idina Menzel -- who played the character in the Disney movie -- and those of Chinese singers Sun Nan and Tan Jing sound remarkably harmonious together.

The organizing committee of the Beijing Winter Olympics has yet to respond CNN's faxed questions. Disney officials were not reachable on Tuesday.
