🤮 I fuckin hate bollocks Hallmark days... but mum photos are getting a tonne of likes today so it seems like a good time to credit the lady who has shaped my perspective on lockdown 🔒 - Whenever shit has hit the fan in my life - that has been admittedly fairly low on adversity compared with the average human - my mother has always said "Ah, don't worry about it. It's not the end of the world in the big picture, everything happens for a reason." 🙄It was often much to my irritation in the past, as when you're pissed off or down it's not necessarily what you're in the mood to hear 🙉 but it created my mindset over time. - My attitude is "big picture"; focused on what I can learn, what it presents me with the opportunity to build, and how to come out of the other side better than before 🤔 Yeah, we're making 2% of our usual revenue, but there's no point wallowing in self-pity because you're the product of the cards you were dealt and the decisions you made with them 🃏 It just so happens that a lot of people who were used to getting good cards all got given a 2, 7, off-suit when they were the big blind recently 🤷🏻‍♂️ Think and adapt accordingly, don't sit there blaming the dealer. There's always another hand. - At the same time I've always been told to be grateful that I've been dealt better cards than many 🙏🏽 - People also love to ignore the "luck" factor in success stories - I'd be deluded if I claimed the fact that I had money saved up and a business built around low overheads was a genius masterstroke of foresight 🐄💩 It was because I never had enough cash to take overheads on and I hadn't worked out what to do with the little cash I did have. I could easily have blown it on a "good opportunity" 6 months ago and be just as fucked as many others (who did nothing wrong) right now 😳 - Lastly, there's always been the mindset of "living in the now" or whatever hippie bullshit name you choose 🤦🏻‍♂️ There's no point thinking of what could have been or longing for times gone by when things were easier, nor is there any point sitting around and waiting for a future to eventuate. Learn from the past, prepare for the future, but keep your energy in the present.
