其實以前我個性比較害羞內向的⋯（現在也會啦，大部分時間）可能是因為工作關係吧，逐漸成為話說的比較多的人比較會聊天的人了⋯我覺得人總會變的，無論是自己願意的，還是被需求的，或是因為環境的因素！無論變成什麼樣子，只要記得自己開心，對得起自己，也不要對不起別人就好！ Basically my personality was more reserved and shy. But because of work demands i gradually become talkative person. I believe everyone will change eventuality! Maybe because you wanted to, someone else asked you to, or maybe because of environment! Do you miss going to live events? We are now LIVE instead of live. The energy of an online event is noticeably different, but in a good way. We’re in a space that is a lot quieter with a lot less people, keeping ample space between us. There isn’t the rushing, the waiting, the “rushing to wait” synonymous with live events. Even the crew seem more relaxed, prepared for any eventuality and tech difficulties. Our audience isn’t standing in a crowd, jostling for space, or looking for a seat. They wait on the holding page, comfortable in their living room or home office, free to switch tabs and continue working in the meantime or quickly grab a snack. The event starts EXACTLY on time 😱because half of the crowd isn’t still ‘stuck in a jam’. Almost 1,000 people watch the event LIVE, way more than just the media crowd of ~ 200. It’s more inclusive, passionate fans of the brand get to join in too. Although we miss the feedback energy of a live audience, the comment section was on fire! The audience was engaged, a lot of really good questions kept streaming in, and everyone had a chance to ask, and we got to pick interesting ones to answer. I’m happy and grateful to be able to work, and to see how brands and production teams adapt to the situation. I’m happy thinking of all the carbon emissions and time for everyone we saved doing it this way ;) It’s possibly the most climate-friendly way for events 👏 What do you think? STEPS TRAINING. If there is one thing i know i am very very weak at, it’s steps. Unfortunately for me and you, Mount Kinabalu is almost all steps for 6km up to base camp and some of those steps are so darn high they are not friendly to people who are vertically challenged like me (as you’ll see in some of the pictures later). If that’s not enough, from Laban Rata up to Sayat- Sayat checkpoint it is just endless steps. Some call it The Journey of a Thousand Steps and i knew if i ignored this part of my training, i would be on a journey straight to hell. I also call this part The Stair Master From Hell 🤣🤣. So a month before i was due to set off, i started climbing stairs. Batu Caves in the morning was the most convenient and i did this for about four sessions but always bearing in mind that i needed to preserve my legs for the actual climb. So i just did whatever i could manage, the maximum being 10 rounds (1 up, 1 down= 1 round). If early mornings are not convenient for you then you can always look for an MRT station with plenty of stairs, your office building stairs or apartment building stairs. The only mistake i made was not doing these stairs with more weights packed into my backpack. I suffer from bad migraines especially when i am exhausted. During the summit climb, i found that gravity just made even the lightest of backpacks feel heavier than it actually was. Luckily my guide was okay for me to surrender my backpack to him halfway through the summit climb. You guys might not be so lucky. WHAT ABOUT WEATHER? If Malaysians hike, they always want nice bright and dry weather. Rain, go home lah... too hot, go home lah... too cold, go home lah... Mount Kinabalu might not be so kind to you. So come rain or shine, you need to hike. It will help you get used to any weather eventuality, help you figure out how to use your equipment or if you need to rethink your climbing technique.
