Elliott’s largest campaigns in Asia include a $2.5bn investment in Japanese technology conglomerate SoftBank, and an ongoing six-year battle with Bank of East Asia, which is controlled by the Hong Kong Li family. These will now be overseen by teams in London and Tokyo, according to a person close to the fund.

Elliott’s decision to move staff from Hong Kong to Tokyo coincides with an ongoing boom in shareholder activism in Japan, and the high-profile successes of several prominent campaigns. In recent months activists have felt emboldened and attempted new tactics: Toshiba was last week forced to take steps to hold an unprecedented double extraordinary general meeting of shareholders later this year after demands from two separate investors.

Then in a historic $1.2bn deal sealed on Monday, real estate giant Mitsui Fudosan completed a tender offer for Tokyo Dome, operator of one of the most famous sporting landmarks in Japan. The deal emerged from a campaign run by Hong Kong-based activist Oasis, which had demanded a wholesale shakeout of Tokyo Dome’s management.

Does Jesus Care that you are ‘Dying’?

“On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let’s go over to the other side.”” (Mark‬ ‭4:35‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When Jesus tells you that you are going over to the other side, you will reach the other side. He is God, and His rhema (spoken word) carries the authority and settles the matter.

Every week, when anointed ministers of the Gospel preach the good news of Jesus Christ to you, those words are God’s promises for your life. Keep those words in your heart for they are the words that carry the authority and power to prosper in what you do, for your current season.

I believe that the disciples never imagined that they would encounter a great windstorm while on the boat.

Sometimes bad things happen and catch us off-guard. In the midst of the mess, we forget God’s promises that were proclaimed to us.

We then act like the disciples who were so afraid, crying out, “God, don’t You care that we are dying?” “Don’t You care that my child is sick?” “Don’t You care that my business is going bust?” “Don’t You care that my marriage is breaking apart?”

“He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion, and they woke him up, and told him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are dying?” He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” (Mark‬ ‭4:38-39‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Jesus could have just ignored the disciples and continued to sleep. He didn’t—He awoke. He could have rebuked the disciples, saying, “Dim-witted ones, I already told you that we are going to the other side. Since when have I ever failed in something I said I would do? Speak to the storm yourself. I’m not going to be spoon-feeding you unbelieving children.”

Yet, thankfully He did not do that. Instead, He rebuked the wind and the waves.

Does Jesus care that you are going through difficulties and hardships? This story settles it. He cares so deeply that He will get up to deliver you out of trouble. Even if the problem has no power to actually hurt you, He cares for your emotional wellbeing too.

Jesus is so patient and gentle that He doesn’t demand you to rise up to His level of faith. He walks with you through the process of growth.

Jesus could have been hoping for the disciples to step out boldly in faith and speak to the wind and waves. Based on all the miracles they had seen Him doing, the disciples could possibly be emboldened to emulate their Teacher.

However, the disciples were too afraid to say face the challenge, and instead ran to Jesus.

Seeing Jesus’ response is very comforting. When you are weak in faith and are not in the state of mind to form eloquent prayers, you can just cry out “Lord Jesus, help me,” and He will.

Every storm you face is an opportunity to exercise your faith and use your speaking power as a royal priest. Jesus will patiently train you to eventually walk in the same spirit of faith as Him.

In the meantime, He cares for you. Whatever is causing you distress, He cares and will deliver you. Whether you cry out for Him or you speak directly to rebuke the mountain that’s standing in your way, say something. The power is in your mouth!
