PELICAN My first Rick top, hopefully the first of many! From the SS17 WALRUS collection, oh how it shrouds / engulfs the wearer in this distorted, grotesque silhouette conceived in a surprisingly stiff and hardy cotton blend 😳. I love how adamant and unapologetic Rick always is at embodying a show’s themes and embedding them quite literally into its garments, this time themes of change, evolution and embarking into the unknown translated in classic body-horror fashion, consuming the figure and morphing the form into its animalistic avian namesake. All this combined with what I can only describe as pleating and drapery that wishes it were more elegant, yet is impeded by its very own nature / fabric. A brutal expression of beauty.
