【統合分析工作坊 │ 快訊🎊 】蔡宗佑醫師團隊，關於鼻咽癌患者影像預後價值之統合分析，獲 Oral Oncology 刊登！

鼻咽癌的患者，如果在影像上看到疾病侵犯到淋巴結以外的範圍（rENE），是否意味著較差的預後呢？雖然概念上有可能，但目前尚無統合分析做定論，蔡醫師團隊預計針對這個問題回答。

研究收入 9 篇共 7532 位受試者，其中 7 篇研究是未分級的 rENE，而 3 篇是很清楚且毫不模糊的明確晚期 rENE。分析結果發現，未分級的 rENE 與較差的總死亡率，以及無轉移死亡率有關。明確晚期 rENE 也是一樣，而且風險比更高。作者總結認為，鼻咽癌患者，如果在影像上看到疾病侵犯淋巴結以外的區域，意味著預後的確不好。

Oral Oncology 是原在 1965 年創刊的 European journal of cancer. Part B, Oral oncology，在 1997 年改名而成，目前為 International Association of Oral Pathologists、European Association of Oral Medicine、International Academy of Oral Oncology 三個學會的官方期刊。

此期刊的 2020 年 impact factor 為 5.337，在 Oncology 領域為 Q2(82/242) 期刊，在 Dentistry, Oral Surgery & Medicine 則為 Q1(7/91) 期刊。這類在不同分類，有顯著排名差距的期刊，值得關注。

在許多大學升等的規定中，除了 impact factor 之外，有時頂尖期刊還有加分，像是本期刊在 Dentistry, Oral Surgery & Medicine 不只是 Q1，甚至是 top 10% 期刊，若貴校升等計分，有針對 top 10% 期刊加分的話，這本就很值得考慮。

Frenectomy can look scary right? ?
But in dentistry, labial (“upper lip”) frenum is often reduced to a certain level, because a low labial frenum attachment can cause Median Diastema (Space in between your front teeth). It can also lead to gum diseases (gingivitis) if the position of frenum is so near to the gums and is in the way where your toothbrush should be.

Even if you’ve got your braces done, the chance of Median Diastema relapse is high with a low maxillary frenum attachment. This means that your teeth are “returning back” to their old position before braces, or in this case, the spacing in between the front teeth “comes back” again!
This is because the frenum is constantly “pulling” the tissue in between your teeth when you engage it, for example, when you smile.

A frenectomy is able to help reshape your frenum up to the proper level, thus eliminating the chances of orthodontic relapse and gum diseases. ?

Everyone desires to have their pearly whites pearly white (pun intended). Yet despite brushing our teeth everyday, there seems to be a limit to how much we can "whiten" them. Why is that so? And is there a way to fix this?
