Update about rhe gentleman from last night's post: This morning he was in great pain and delirious. IC and all belongings stolen some time ago. He can't remember his own name. When asked, speaking in Malay he replied he is Chinese Stomach bloated and mosquito bites riddled his body. No idea how long he had been lying there but the stench on and around him would suggest many many days. Found an ambulance and brought him to Serdang Hospital. I am here now outside the Emergency Ward. My wife @drjezaminelim Is handling the registration and talking to the staff. Doctors attending to him now. Being here at the hospital is incredibly scary and sad. The staff are working and moving NON STOP. Protect out frontliners, Malaysia. Please. Very very sad. No idea what's going to happen next with our gentleman friend. Praying for him. Will deal with that hurdle when we reach it. #全裸監督 シーズン2のための花 Ikebana for #nakeddirector season2 今回は、高級料亭の玄関。井原剛志さん演じるフィクサーがそれはそれは怒って入ってくる場面。 実は、元々ここにはいける予定は全くなくて、部屋の大きな生け花のいけこみを終えて、「やれやれ」と思っていたら、美術監督の都築さんが、「なんか、ここ、欲しいな。なんか作れるかな。大きいほうがいい！」と何やらひらめいた感じのキラキラした顔で話しかけてきて、「おー、やりましょう！」と即興でいけることになった花。 「やる！」とは言っても、「残りの流木２本しかないから自立しないなあ。どうする？」と悩んでいたら、都築さんが美術班の何やら行燈置きみたいなものをさささーっとどこからか持ってきて、「これ、どう？つかえるでしょ！」とうれしそうに言う。「照明の重しをかませて、これは使える！」と私も興奮してくる。良くわからない行燈置きみたいなのと流木で、骨組みを大きくいけながら、「多分、こういうのが好きなんだなあ」、と思いました。つまり「祭り」です。 映画でいけてもそんなに作品がドーンと大きく画面に映ることはないんです。あくまで、美術の一部ですから。でも、お話を頂くと、ワクワクとしていけてしまうのはなぜだろう？と思ったときに、ここにいる映画人たちの子供みたいな「熱」が好きなんだなあ、と気付きました。本当は存在しない空間を、あたかもそこに存在するかのように完璧に作り上げる映画美術の世界は、とにかく「熱い」んです。映るとか映らないとかじゃなくて、役者が入って来るまでに完璧に虚構の世界を作り上げる情熱！ その「熱」が圧倒的で、「ねえ、ここ、いけて欲しいんだよね」とキラキラした顔で言われると、「よっしゃー！」ってなるんだと思います。なんかちょっと魔法がかかってますね、あの世界は！ だから、その大掛かりな遊びの仲間に入れてもらえるのがうれしくて、頼まれれば、どんどんいけます！多分、私も魔法にかかっているんだと思います。 ちなみに、この玄関を入ってくるシーンはカットされました。でも、私的には、やりきった感があって、大満足なのですよ。不思議でクセになる世界かもしれません。 Ikebana for episode 4 At the entrance of a Japanese restaurant >>> This Ikebana were not planned before. The art director came up with an idea suddenly and asked me “ Can you arrange a big Ikebana here???” I had only 2 drifted trees as left over materials and was wondering how I could stand them by themselves. But his face was full of passion and then I realized that I really love this strange movie world. I naturally said “Yes!” to him. So many unexpected things happen suddenly, but all staffs are absorbed in creating the unreal world perfectly as if they are delirious. We create the non-existent world beautifully as if that is a real world before actors come in. All staffs has great passions and we don’t care the decoration and settings will appear on the screen or not. It’s really magical world and maybe I got the fever of movie already. I’m really proud of myself to be a member of this crazy world. This scene was cut. But I feel like fully completed.
