Got woken up before the sun rose by this boy here who was whining because he had a tummy ache and wanted to get out to the garden to poo. Poor boy had the runs! *He is toilet trained to only pee/poo outside on the grass, so when he needs to go, he will stand at the balcony door to let us know to let him out. I picked up his smelly, molten poop whilst @thehuangergames rubbed his tummy gently to soothe it. In that moment, it dawned on me that I had become a pawrent to Bruno lol. I mean, I've been taking care of him but I guess this poo-nami episode just made me more legit hahahahaha. P.S. He is now officially my poo-pal because he likes to follow me to the toilet when I'm doing mine and will bark at the door if I don't let him in. Totally no privacy I know! #pawrentlife

[TLDR: Reflection Post 🐾🐶] We adopted Bailey from a lovely Japanese lady that wasn’t able to bring her back home due to unforeseen circumstances. The whole process took about a week - from our first visit together, to buying essentials, and picking her up from her previous owner. I thought happily ever after ensued, except, I didn’t know how to feel about her. Don’t get me wrong - I was nervous and excited, and I wondered if she would like us. Also, according to Google and countless number of articles, I did everything right - setting her crate up, buying her the right kinds of food, getting a dog behavioural trainer to help us, sending her to doggy day care so she would be exposed to more of her fur friends. I was physically prepared to deal with her separation anxiety and sense of abandonment, but I quickly realised I wasn’t emotionally there. A week into hearing her cries, her pooping and peeing due to stress, and the intense barking whenever we were not within her sight, I was sleep deprived and emotionally drained. Ben on the other hand, was taking it like a champ! Another revelation - it’s disappointing, but I’m not great with change. I was dealing with the puppy blues. Other than feeding her, changing her and taking her out on walks, I just could not, would not look at Bailey. She had turned my life upside down, and I’d come home fearing that my safe space would be interrupted by the chaos within her. It‘s been close to 3 weeks now and my puppy blues have gone away with time. It dawned on me that this little girl was going through a lot - learning how to trust us, getting to know us, and embracing change one step at a time. 🧡🐶 I figured I should stop being selfish and get my act together and try - honestly, it was easy to fall in love with her, I guess I needed time to trust her too. Our little Bailey is sensitive, smart, sociable, really sweet and knows exactly how to push your buttons. 🤣 She has a thing for birds, loves the view from the balcony, snores pretty loudly and is SUPER food motivated!
