Also, any multiple Grammy Award winning artist is probably out of your league. Next, no one talks smack about Justin Timberlake, Adam Levine or any guy who’s dated a string of women. What’s up with the double standards, cha? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your fragile masculinity getting bruised by this talk of gender politics? Gonna put your hand up and mansplain that tired old “not all men” rhetoric? Then let’s bring it down a notch with a simpler COVID-19 analogy: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Wearing masks and social distancing are proven to be effective steps in curtailing the spread of Coronavirus. We know a lot of people are pretty good with this (“Most men are well-behaved”), but there are a handful of mofos who just don’t get it, even a year after the pandemic (“Only some men do this”). The problem is, enough of these people go about maskless and ignore social distancing. That’s why we’re not flattening the curve (“There’s still violence and discrimination against women”). Clear? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And just like the pandemic, misogyny and sexual discrimination kills, impacts jobs and livelihoods. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Playing the devil’s advocate in conversations about misogyny, sexual violence, racism and gender discrimination isn’t an attempt at intellectual discourse. It’s a showcase and an abuse of privilege. No one owes you an education or a conversation on this. If you have Instagram on your phone, you’ve got Google. Look it up.

Burmese cuisine is largely influenced by its neighbouring countries China, Laos, Thailand and India, and we were excited to try it for the first time! - Some highlights from our lunch below ✨: 🍚Burmese-style beef biryani - with meltingly tender grass-fed beef that has been cooked over 12 hours, tomato relish, and fluffy Basmati rice. Our fav dish! 🥟Samusa - it resembles Indian samosa but the pastry is lighter and crispier, and shaped like Chinese spring roll (as part of a CNY special!). Stuffed with savoury potato and mutton and dunked in a light mint sauce. 🌿Burmese tea leaves salad - the kinda salad I could keep eating! W/ salty soft pickled tea leaves that are nicely offset by crunchy peas, cabbage, fresh tomatoes, and lime. 🍌 Burmese tea ice cream - milk tea flavoured ice cream with warm banana crumble. - ❗️🤳❗️ On another more serious topic, have you heard about what’s been happening in Myanmar? Since the military seized power away from civilian rule earlier this month, the country has descended into darkness — led at the fore by an illegitimate state that is curtailing basic freedoms like speech & access to information. Journalists, protesters and anti-coup activists are being targeted & attacked. Still, the people continue taking to the streets in the hundreds of thousands to protest against the illegal suppression of their rights. I’ve never been to Myanmar personally, but can already see from afar that it is a country of beautiful, resilient souls (and food!).
