「河岸上的村落就是阿富汗？！」

去年一月在塔吉克的噴赤河岸旁，是我第一次親眼見到阿富汗的國土🇦🇫 那天陽光普照，對岸的村莊看起來格外安詳☀️

也許長期受到西方媒體影響，一直覺得阿富汗是戰亂之地。「阿富汗已經很久沒有戰爭了。」York 那時跟我說。

沒想到今日醒來，看到塔利班佔據了阿富汗的首都及大部分的國土。電影 #追風箏的孩子 中的劇情回到我腦海中🪁 人民在鏡頭前的惶恐，讓人心痛不已💔

當時人在塔吉克的我們，因為時間不夠，沒有申請進入阿富汗的簽證。我今天問 York，會不會後悔沒有機會進去這個國家看看？

「塔吉克人當時都說塔利班已經邊境開始活躍，政府都增加軍警警戒了！現在想想還好沒有進去，因為被恐怖分子抓住可不是鬧著玩的！」他說。

翻看我們在塔吉克的照片，有一批沒被軍方刪掉的照片，是攝於每週六舉行的「阿富汗市集」💱 在那天，阿富汗人會進來塔吉克與當地人買賣物品。看著他們臉上苦澀的表情，不知道那些人現在過得如何... 還活著嗎？ 🥺 只能從遠處為他們祈禱...🤲

話說今天墨爾本又延續封城兩星期，等於將會至少封一個月... 今天是個令人難過的一天...😿

My heart goes to the Afghan people...🥺

Woke up to the news to the Taliban taking over Afghanistan's capital and majority of the country is just heart breaking💔

It wasn't that long ago that we were standing at Panj River in Tajikistan watching the peaceful Afghan villages waking up to the peaceful sunrise☀️

"Did you regret that we didn't go into Afghanistan? We could've gone into the country if we have enough extra days." I asked York this question today 👀

"Thinking back, I'm glad we didn't. As the Tajiks were already talking about increased Taliban activities at the borders and they had to increase military presence. Being taken away by terrorists are no joke!" He said.

Looking at the photos we took of the Afghan people at the Afghan market that was held every Saturday in Tajikistan, I wondered how these people are doing... Are they still alive..?🥺

Can only pray for them from afar 🤲

Ps. Melbourne lockdown extended for another two weeks, a shit day today indeed..

Being a prisoner of time and space in a confined space with 4 walls. Can you hear the ticking of the clock? Or is that in your mind? Are we losing our minds? Can you tell is real anymore? How can one be sane being stuck confined between 4 walls with time eluding us?

What time is it?
When is dinner ready?
Has it been 5 hours already?!
What day is it?
I can't remember the last time I've seen or heard from anyone.
I forgot the sound of your voice, your touch, the warmth of a hug.
Have I smiled today? I can't remember.

Time is a fickle concept. It can take you years to heal, days to grow, hours to assemble. But it can also take you a day to crumble, a minute to destroy, and a second to vaporise.

The rate of suicides and depressions has exponentially increased during these insane times. It is troubling to see that so many would choose death over life. Imagine the lives that could've been saved with a simple phone call? A text? A meal delivered to their door?

We're all going through our personal battles and we're all at different stages of those battle. Some may be winning those battles and some are struggling. Be kind to everyone because you'll never know if the next words that come out of your mouth would be their saving grace or their next step 6 feet under.

Call up your friend. Facetime a family member. Send food to a colleague.

Not all superheroes wear capes.

アメリカには褒める文化が根付いており、褒め言葉を聞くことは日常茶飯事です。家族や友人、ビジネス仲間や、時には赤の他人でもとにかく相手を褒めます。そこで今回は、相手を褒める時によく使う「さすがだね！」のフレーズをいくつかご紹介します。

この表現は「あなたならできると思っていた」を意味し、相手が何か成し遂げたことに対しての喜びの気持ち示すのと同時に、達成できることを信じていた意味合いも含まれます。一般的に友達や家族など仲の良い間柄で使われるフレンドリーな言い方です。
　
✔似た言い回しに、「Only you could’ve done that.（さすが。それはあなたにしかできない）」や、「I knew you had it in you.（[何かを成し遂げる為の]能力や根性があると分かっていた）」という表現もある。

この表現は「あんなの彼にとって朝飯前だよ」のように、誰かが素晴らしい才能や腕前を披露したものの、元々その凄さを知っていて特に驚いてはいないニュアンスとして使われます。例えば、NBAのスター選手、ステフィン・カリーはハーフコートから当たり前のようにシュートを決める選手なのですが、彼が試合でいつものようにハーフコートからシュートを決めたら、「That’s Steph for you.（さすがステフだね）」と言うことができます。
　
✔「That’s _____ for you」の空欄には、人の名前に限らず食べ物や地名などを入れることもできる。
　
✔日常会話では「for you」を「for ya」と発音することもよくある。

この表現は、周囲からも高く評価されている人や物事が、期待通りの成果をだした場合に、「あなたならこのくらいやるとは思っていた」の意味として使う褒め言葉です。一般的には、フォーマルな状況下で、先輩が後輩に、上司が部下に対して使われることが多いです。例えば、仕事ができると評判の部下から、無事契約を結んできたと報告を受けた上司が「I wouldn’t expect anything less from you.」と言うと「さすが、君なら契約を成立させると思っていたよ。」という意味合いになります。
　
✔「I would expect nothing less from you」も同じ意味合い。

何か凄いことを成し遂げた相手に「さすが！」と言う場合に、アメリカでは最もよく使われるナチュラルな一言が「That’s impressive!」や「That’s awesome」でしょう。awesome よりImpressiveの方が「凄い！」と思った感情を強く示しており、「感動した」と訳すこともできます。「さすが」という言葉の直訳にこだわらず、自然に口から出る感じで使いましょう。
　
＜例文＞
　
You got hired at Google? That's impressive, Tom!
（グーグルで雇われたの？凄いね！さすがトム！）
　
You're starting an NPO? Wow! That's awesome!
（NPO法人を始めるの？凄いじゃん！さすが！）

Hello everyone! This vlog includes a totally random video from 2018 during the huge elections but it was too memorable a moment for me to just put aside or throw away, so I put it in the vlog.
