MERDEKA?

I think it's a lot better to say, "Selamat Hari Kebangsaan" rather than "Selamat Hari Merdeka". Merdeka connotes a freedom, and we're not really free, are we? I still think Malaysia is a great country, and I'm very thankful to be a part of it. But I do not delude myself into thinking that any of us living here are truly free.

I think most of us are still very frightened to speak out against the myriad injustices that occur right before our eyes, every day.

To add, there is a culture of divisiveness amongst the races in this country that nobody wants to address. The worst thing about it all, is that the education system we currently have, fosters it.

In 2021, when advanced societies are denouncing notions like 'superior race' and 'the right (religious) way of life', our political parties inch closer to primitive dogma, and those opposing it can't say anything against it, because it's all cloaked under that big untouchable subject called "religion".

What is wrong with us? Where is our voice? We can't simply acquiesce, just because somebody said, "God mandated it." Over history, God has mandated A LOT of reprehensible acts. Once upon a time, that same God even mandated owning slaves. Atrocities like the Holocaust, the Spanish Inquisition and mistreatment and displacement of the Rohingyas were all committed in the name of God.

People should not be afraid to raise their voices and question the authorities, when their rights are being trampled on. More importantly, they should feel compelled to raise their voices against the authorities, when the rights of others are being trespassed on. It is so crucial for us to speak up for them, because these people, these 'others'... they may not have a voice to stand up for themselves.

When we are free to do that, THAT'S when we can say we have attained freedom. That is when we are merdeka.

So until we achieve that, I will wish you Selamat Hari Kebangsaan instead.💜

Having a baby was probably one of the best things that happened to my business.

I didn’t expect myself to say this. But it’s the truth.

Before having a child, I could always count on the (not so healthy) need to achieve to fuel me.

After having a child, I’m too tired even for that.

It felt like if I continued to let myself running after that need to achieve, I might go insane.

I spent months feeling not ‘fired up’ to do anything.

(Of course I couldn’t be fired up. Between the endless flow of poopy diapers, waking up 10 times a night, and weekly plugged ducts, I was burn out!)

In a weird way, that gave me the chance to reach out to what brings me joy (my passion), what feels easy (my genius), and what I feel compelled to create at a soul level (my mission.)

Now only those things can drag my ass from the couch to the desk.

I also have much less time compared to before. But it also means I have much less time to waste.

Limited time is a teacher. It teaches me (forces me) to do only what matters in my business and drop the rest.

So if you’re worried that a baby may stop you from going for your dreams, that doesn’t have to be your reality.

With the right mindset and the right support, you can be a mother, and still follow your calling, and still making the difference you were born to make.

You got this.

流行中のチョコミント、初めて食べたのは40年くらい前、31アイスクリームのでした。
さわやかな色合いを思い出したら止まらなくて、作ってみました。ミントフレーバーは控えめ。
ミントは入れなくてもチョコレートとヨーグルトバークで味は成立するなと思って、「あ、そういえばチョコミント苦手だったわ！」と気づいたとさ。
*レシピ*
１．無糖ヨーグルト 400gを およそ半量の重さになるまで水切りし水切りヨーグルトを作る。もしくは、無糖ギリシャヨーグルト 200gを用意する。
２．砂糖 20gを混ぜる。
３．ミントリキュールを好きなだけ加える。今回は食用のハッカ油を1滴使いました。
４．３から少し取り分ける。
５．４の残りをミント色に着色する。
６．オーブンシートを敷いたバットなどに５を流し込む。
７．４を所々に置く。
８．バットを台に落とし、平らにならす。
９．バーを潜り込ませるように置く。
１０．ミントの葉 適量とチョコレートチップ 10g（好きなだけ）を散らす。
１１．冷凍庫で凍らせる。
１２．好きな大きさに割って、いただきます！

水切りヨーグルトは、“パルテノ”よりも“Oikos”の柔らかさのほうが扱いやすいです。

砂糖はヨーグルトの重さの10％加えればバランスがいいので、お好みの量の水切りヨーグルトで作ってみてください。

The first time we ate mint chocolate was 40 years ago at Baskin-Robbins, and it's so popular now!

Thinking of that refreshing color combination, we were compelled to make it ourselves! The mint flavor is mild.

The chocolate and yogurt bark flavor is potent enough even without putting in mint... that's when I realized: "Hmm.... I don't like chocolate mint that much!"

*Recipe*
1. Make drained yogurt by draining 400 g of unsweetened yogurt until the weight is about halved. Or, prepare 200 g of unsweetened Greek yogurt.
2. Mix in 20 g of sugar.
3. Add as much much mint liqueur as you like. I used one drop of peppermint oil for this one.
4. Take some from 3.
5. Color the remainder of 4 a mint color.
6. Pour 5 into a tray lined with parchment paper or into something similar.
7. Place 4 in some places.
8. Drop the tray on the counter to flatten it out.
9. Leave the bar to sink in.
10. Sprinkle mint leaf as needed and 10 g (as much as you like) of chocolate chips.
11. Freeze in the freezer.
12. Cut into the desired size, and enjoy!

(For viewers in Japan) When draining the yogurt brand "Oikos" is easier to handle than "Partheno" because of how soft it is.

It balances well if you add sugar equal to 10% of the weight of the yogurt, so go ahead and make it with however much drained yogurt as you like.
