I don’t know how many of you know the history of the birth of Bangladesh. This is why going to share a lil piece of it. • After 9 months gruesome war with Pakistan, today on this day Bangladesh achieved its victory against Pakistan in 1971. We are celebrating the victory day today. Whole country is decorated in red and green lights to match our national flag. 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩 • To achieve the freedom and to secure Bangla as our mother tongue, 3 million people died in 9 months war. 3,00,000 women were raped. A massive genocide taken place in 9 months. When the Pakistani soldiers realized they are losing the war, they killed thousands of teachers, journalists, artists, lawyers, and other prominent people on 14th December 1971. They categorically did it to stop the progress of the country for next 50/100 years. But here we are, economically and culturally stronger than them. ❤️❤️ • The story of our freedom fight is not all that glorious, it’s bloodied and heartbreaking. There are several members in my family who took part in freedom fight including my father. I am so proud to be a daughter of a freedom fighter, and ever so grateful to those who lost their life and peace to give us a country, a flag, a beautiful language to speak. We will never forget you! ❤️❤️ • The palace from this picture is called Ahsan Manzil, which was the official residential palace and seat of the Nawab of Dhaka. It is located at the old town of Dhaka city. If you ever visit Bangladesh, I would recommend you to visit this historical place. ❤️❤️ • Old Dhaka is also famous for food! The foods of Old Dhaka has been featured in many international shows, and documentary.
