Kerið is approximately three thousand years which is one of the younger crater in Iceland.volcanic calderas found in Iceland. Hence why Kerið’s slopes are red in colour, rather than a volcanic black; the iron deposits are, geologically speaking, fresh. . This is among the most beautiful crater we visited because of the red colour and the azure color lake in the centre. . On a side note taking photos is Iceland can be challenging. It’s cold and snapping waterfall with water splashes that need to keep wiping the lens is really tough. One side of this photo is filled with water droplets because I forget to wipe it down. Jigoku-Dani (Valley of Hell) It’s a 24-acre geothermal crater that formed from the eruption of Mt Kuttara some 20,000 years ago. Located within Hokkaido’s Shikotsu-Toya National Park, where roiling lava pits and simmering black sulfur calderas quietly lurk under a thick blanket of snow, it certainly might sound like a vision of hell to some.
