    Bangkok Foodies couldn’t resist testing the taste buds in what looked to be a schnitzel bigger than our heads, although in real life, it turned out to be much bigger. As aforementioned, the flattened then breaded pork comes in a 12 inch pizza box (420 THB), almost reaching to each end of the box lengthwise uses the type meat which typically comes from a butcher’s cut, basically the boneless part of the pork chop. The schnitzel is covered in a light breading and is fried to a light golden yellow-brown. The result is a warm,, thin layer of pork which has both tenderness and crisps to bite.

    當年輕的雄性攝政食蜜鳥離巢後,會透過聆聽年長雄性的歌聲學習鳴唱。因人類發展導致牠們九成的棲息地被破壞,野外只餘下約300隻,被列作極危物種。在難以遇到雄性長輩的情況下,很多幼鳥也只能學習其他雀鳥的叫聲。結果因唱錯歌而無法吸引雌性及繁殖,加速了牠們絕種的危機。

    Young male regent honeyeaters will learn their songs from elder males after they leave the nest. 90% of their habitat is lost because of human developments; there are only around 300 of them in the wild now, and are listed as critically endangered. With such small population, young males are unable to meet other elder males, and ended up learning other birds’ songs. Singing the wrong song means females might not mate with them. Without breading, they are moving closer to extinction.

    【サクサクちくわの磯辺フライ】
    今日は、簡単なお手軽バッター液で作る『サクサクちくわの磯辺フライ』を作りました!ちくわフライは間違いなく美味しいですが、やっぱりサクサクの衣がいいですよね!
    このこのレシピなら簡単で手間なしでしっかりサクサクに仕上がります。
    油も少量で揚げ焼きでできるので、お手軽!衣は触ると取れやすいので、カリッとしたら優しく転がして面を変えて、またカリッとしたら優しく転がして面を変えて...と全体をサクサクにしてください。ぜひお試しいただけると嬉しいです!

    〈材料〉5本分
    ちくわ 5本
    ☆小麦粉 大さじ1と1/2

    Crispy outside soft inside. Addictive bite-size pieces 😋
    Great recipe to use up potatoes!

    Tater tots are grated potatoes formed into small cylinders and deep-fried, trademarked by American frozen food company Ore-Ida.

    Deep-fried leftover scraps and small potatoes without breading or batter are good, too!

    My son and I've been to potato digging and got some potatoes again this year 👍

    EASY Tater Tots Recipe

    Difficulty: Very Easy
    Time: 20min
    Number of servings: 4

    Ingredients:
    600g (1.3oz.) potatoes
    2/3 tsp. salt
    pepper
    1 tbsp. flour
    deep frying oil

    Directions:
    1. Wash and peel potatoes. Place them in a microwavable dish, cover, and microwave on medium (600w) for 5 minutes, until slightly heated (not cooked through). Undercooked potatoes are easy to shred.
    2. Using a shredder, shred the potatoes.
    3. Season with salt and pepper, and mix in flour.
    4. Wrap in plastic wrap to flatten the potatoes. Then cut it into small pieces, nicely shape them into cylinders about an inch long.
    5. Deep fry in oil at 180C (350F) until crisp golden brown on the outside.

    For this episode, we destroyed a MASSIVE 6.3KG (14LB) Curry Rice courtesy of Jack’s Kitchen at Old Airport Road Food Centre! Due to renewed Covid-19 restrictions, dining out has become impossible. We scoured the island for the best takeaway options for a mukbang challenge and Jack’s Kitchen was kind enough to supply us with their specialised curry rice offerings.

    For this challenge, I ate:
    12 portions of rice
    5 Pork Cutlets
    5 Chicken Cutlets
    6 Fried Eggs
    A truckload of Javanese-style curry

    The curry was thick and luscious, with a strong coconut flavour and spiced closer to a Javanese/Peranakan style curry with just a hint of chilli. The cutlets were both extremely crispy, but the pork cutlets really stood out with their different breading (possibly panko) and seasoning.

    This was a challenging mukbang that really helped me stretch my limit after the food poisoning fiasco. Owned by a friendly elderly couple, it would be good to help them out in such trying times for the hawker industry. I strongly recommend the pork cutlet!
