The Eumundi Market was lovely to spend the afternoon with the family. Was my first time so close with a bird, but i guess parrots are okay - I'm really just terrified of pigeons and long beaked birds. It was such a hot afternoon in Queensland and I remember falling asleep so often in the car.
We also took a trip to Maple street at Melany. Don't we all always love supermarkets abroad? Bought some stuff for dinner and called it a day. I'd recommend this route for those who is travelling Queensland for leisure and isn't rushing. Our BNB was great too, just about 15-20 mins away from these spots.

どうも、おもしろ雑貨コレクターの伊勢海老太郎です。今回はアクータメンツの「爪楊枝バード」という爪楊枝入れの紹介です。鳥の頭を下げると、クチバシで爪楊枝（つまようじ）をくわえます！鳥がクチバシで爪楊枝を取ってくれる爪楊枝入れです。おもしろいので無駄に何度も爪楊枝を取ってしまいます（笑）。食卓テーブルを賑やかに、明るくしてくれる爪楊枝入れです。1,425円で購入しました。詳細は下記関連リンクをご確認ください。

Don't give your tourist dollars to a country that catches dolphins by mutilating baby dolphins....throwing them back in the water.....and then slowly killing their family members who refuse to leave a crying baby.

聲納可能是鯨魚擱淺的元兇
根據最新的研究，軍艦與直升機發出的聲納（Sonar, Sound Navigation and Ranging 聲音導航與測距），迫使鯨魚潛入深海中過久，引發幾近水潛水夫病的致命症狀。
研究發現，一隻想逃離聲波的喙鯨，潛入海中的時間長達 163 分鐘，幾乎比全世界哺乳類最長的潛水紀錄還多出半個小時。
近年來，世界各地屢屢見到單一擱淺的鯨魚、整群擱淺的鯨魚。三禮拜前才有一隻領航鯨在蘇格蘭印威內斯（Inverness）擱淺。去年也發生數起長鬚鯨在英格蘭東部與南部海灘上擱淺的事件。
海洋生物學家把焦點放在聲納裝置對鯨魚擱淺的作用。聲納裝置廣播的音波，會比搖滾音樂更大聲，但略高於人類聽覺的範圍，以偵測海裡的潛水艇。許多擱淺的鯨魚被發現體內有許多氮氣泡，彷彿人類所得到的潛水夫病，也就是減壓症（decompression sickness）。
為了解釋這個現象，一群來自美國華盛頓州海洋生態與遙感探測研究所（Marine Ecology and Telemetry Research Centre）的科學家，在洛杉磯東南方 150 英哩處的太平洋，對十六頭柯氏喙鯨（Cuvier’s beaked whales）上了衛星標籤。
領銜的科學家是艾琳·費爾孔（Erin Falcone），她在 2014 年曾經發現柯氏喙鯨可以在深度兩英哩的海中沉潛兩小時十七分鐘。這一次，一隻上了標籤的鯨魚打破先前的紀錄 26 分鐘。
費爾孔發現，聲納的存在，導致鯨魚潛海的時間拉長，每次的間隔也拉長，使得一般一天潛海八次的鯨魚，會在聲納的影響下，減少為一天潛海三到四次。對於鯨魚活動影響更大的是直升機聲納，雖然它所發出的聲音較小，但它的發聲對鯨魚是無預警的。
費爾孔的研究報告已經在《開放科學》期刊（Royal Society Open Science）發表，她在報告主張，長時間在潛於深海，導致氮氣泡在鯨魚的脂肪與其他組織中累積，可能是導致牠們死亡的原因。

【塑膠垃圾已成為海洋生態災難 聯合國環境規劃署發起清理運動 希望喚醒世人關注】
人類製造垃圾、遺害海洋動物的例子，每天都在現實的生活中發生！日前挪威海岸出現1隻鯨魚擱淺，由於牠的生理狀態不佳，最後被安樂死。在解剖後意外發現，其胃中竟出現大量人類製造的塑膠袋。研究人員藉此推測，當時鯨魚應是誤食塑膠導致身體不適才出現海中擱淺等行為。
這隻在當地相當罕見的鵝喙鯨（Goose-beaked Whale）長6公尺、體重重達2噸，研究人員將牠解剖後在其胃中找到至少30個塑膠袋。
2015年，美國加州大學戴維斯分校與印尼哈撒努丁大學共同研究也發現，從加州與印尼魚市場取得的樣本中，有25％的海洋生物被發現胃中有塑膠或其他垃圾的證據。研究人員以聯合國統計數據表示，每年人類約將800萬噸塑膠垃圾倒進海裡，世界經濟論壇研究更指出，目前全球海洋約有1.5億噸垃圾。
聯合國環境規劃署（UNEP）最近也發起清理海洋塑膠活動，據綠色和平組織發布報告，希望喚起人們的關注，放任垃圾特別是塑膠袋進入海洋生害系統，不但會破壞海洋環境以及食物鏈，碎裂的微塑膠被海洋生物誤食，不但有可能造成海洋的浩劫，最終後害得還會是人類自己。
