    Happy Breastfeeding week girls!
    I can’t believe it has been almost 8 months of me exclusively nursing Luth Hayyan. Earlier on with Awsam I had nursed him more than a year and brought my breast pump everywhere and so with Luth, I knew I wanted to do the same for him too.

    I have always loved every single moment I get to bond with Awsan when I breastfed him. It just makes my day better when I get home from a long day at work. During that time, it’s just me and him in our little little world. Besides that fact, it makes it easier to feed him when we are out or travelling as I don’t have to worry about cleaning or disinfecting milk bottles.

    I would express milk every time before I go on-air, or right after that, or in the car on my way to work, or while my makeup artist is doing my hair and makeup for a shoot.
    Carrying my pumps, bottles and cooler isn’t always easy. But I always tell myself “Its ok, no pressure”. And before I know it, it’s been 8 months and counting!

    I think it’s so important to express your challenges and difficulties to your loved ones. To me breastfeeding didn’t start easy. I had my share of bruises and pain but I think what kept me going were the encouragements I received. And of course, the precious latching moment with my baby.

    Fortunately, I was sure that I wanted to breastfeed from the beginning so I read on which hospitals and gynae were pro natural feeding and allow moms to spend the first hours after birth just one on one skin contact with their babies. I’m not sure if you girls have heard of BFHI (Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative). But NUH where I gave birth at, is one of the hospitals which are BFHI-certified, they will encourage such skin to skin contact and that it makes all the difference for a mother giving birth to their precious baby as skin to skin contact helps to establish successful breastfeeding by encouraging baby to naturally latch on.

    I remembered I was lying in the operation theatre and shivering from the medications.
    The nurse came with Luth Hayyan and asked whether she can help me to get Luth to latch on through having Skin to Skin contact with me. She was so kind and allowed me to have Luth.
    She placed him on my chest and Luth quickly latched on and it was such an emotional moment for me. I can’t believe that there lies a little boy who is too adorable beyond words who immediately knows I'm his mummy. And now I just know that I'm tearing up as I remember the experience.
    And if you ask me if I were to do it all over again, I will choose the same hospital with the same gynae ❤
