Happy Sarawak/SAYA, KAMU Day!

It is indeed not a coincidence (as there are none =)), that this video is released on this day, as I wanted it to be birthed on a special day as this was a special video made possible by wonderful people.

This song was conceived whilst I was on an extended trip in Bali last year, after i had performed for Soundrenaline Festival, I decided to treat myself and stayed for a few extra days and experience Bali and it's generosity in giving me inspirations always. Perhaps it is why, it is called 'Saya, Kamu' instead of 'Saya, Awalk'. Haha!

With much excitement, of my first ever song in FULL MALAY, I insisted on it to be recorded here in Malaysia, with our homegrown talents, so with the help of Muhd Irhas (Payung of Salammusik) with producing this track, I got together my trustee bandmates to help bring the song alive, Santosh Logandran (percussions), Raja Farouk (Bass), and my new partner in music, flown in from Bali, Reno Pratama to put his harmonica touches on it.

It is a simple tune, though i felt that it needed visuals to go with it.

Then came the search for the talents.

I had seen Stu on a friend's Instagram and thought he'd be perfect for the part, then we directed to the beautiful, Liana, whom we also approached via Instagram. So, thank you, Instagram!

Stu then connected us to his friends who ran their own production company, the good folks over at Posse Production.

We then began the treatment for the video, then on to shooting it.

The whole production crew, comprised of young, passionate and talented individuals, gave the project their best foot forward and created what you see now.

I believe in giving young people chances and a platform to showcase their brilliant qualities, just in hopes that through our collaboration, it will propel them and take them to more amazing journeys!

Also, a nice side story, the two main talents who met on set, are now a real-life couple.

Ahh... My heart.
