✴️「2020年台灣保證法案」由聯邦參議員 #柯頓，聯邦眾院外委會主席 #安格爾 與共和黨首席議員 #麥考爾 等提出，眾院院會於2019年5月無異議通過。旨在支持對台軍售常態化，協助我國加強自我防衛能力、支持台灣有意義參與國際組織。
✴️「全球合作暨訓練架構」GCTF本次「2021會計年度聯邦政府撥款法案」匡列預算達300萬美元，肯定為台灣、美國及日本在印太區域共同推動 #公共衛生 #執法 #災害救助 #能源合作 #婦女賦權 #媒體識讀 及 #良善治理 的平台。
The US Senate and House passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, on December 21. MOFA welcomes the allocation of US$3 million to the Global Cooperation and Training Framework and the provisions for the Taiwan Assurance Act of 2020 incorporated in the act, demonstrating cross-party support for #Taiwan in the US!
This is the first time that apportioning funds for #GCTF activities has been explicitly included in such a bill, confirming the GCTF’s role as a platform for the #US, #Taiwan and #Japan to promote #PublicHealth, #RuleOfLaw, #DisasterRelief, #EnergyCooperation, #WomensEmpowerment, #MediaLiteracy and #GoodGovernance in the #IndoPacific region.
The Taiwan Assurance Act was passed unanimously by the House of Representatives in May of this year and supports the normalization of weapons sales to Taiwan to help raise its self-defense capabilities, its participation in international organizations and requires a review of guidance on diplomatic practice with Taiwan and the implementation of the Taiwan Travel Act.
