So beautiful. #Repost @sea_legacy with @repostapp. ・・・ I was ill the day I made this photograph, so I sought shelter from the relentless sun of the Madagascar Spiny Desert, inside a hut. There, I shared the tight space with this beautiful woman, who was wearing a traditional mask made of powdered bark. Women use this as a natural sunblock and mosquito repellent. We sat quietly in the smoldering heat and I felt really grateful for her humble hospitality. Her portrait has become one of my #favoriteshots because in the brief moments I spent with her, I felt a deep kinship to someone who showed me real kindness. Her tribe, the Antandroy, or "People of the Thorn" are a semi nomadic people that survive in a real harsh environment.
