Paulo Laureano Ema’s Vineyard Branco Vinho Regional Alentejano Portugal ​ ​🇵🇹 2018​ ​ Paulo Laureano, once an agronomist professor, found his love in wine and started to make wine in 1990s. Recognized as one of the most renowned winemakers in Portugal, Paulo settled down in Videgueira, a southern sub-region within Alentejo of Portugal, where he fell in love with the terroir and deliciated himself to produce wine made with indigenous grape varieties. ​ ​ This 100% Verdelho comes from Ema’s Vineyard, a 4-hectare old vines parcel, where the predominet soil is schist, providing the unique minerality to this wine. Pale gold with aromas of star fruit, quince, kumquat, pineapple, walnuts and beeswax, the wine slowly unfolds herself in my glass. Dry and lean with hint of yeasty notes on the palate with bright acidity. I crave for oyster while sipping this Verdelho or pair with Açorda de Marisco (shellfish bread stew), a regional dish from Alentejo.
