WHY YOU SHOULDN’T WATCH DISNEY PRINCESS MOVIES - PART 1 Sure, we’ve all loved watching Disney movies when we were young but now that I’m old enough to know what’s right & wrong, I see so many wrongs in these childhood movies that I’ve seen on repeat growing up. Here’s a few reasons as to why these movies shouldn’t be shown to new gen kids, especially girls. * Little Mermaid. Ariel is willing to change her physical appearance for a man to love her. This shows girls that it is okay to change who you are for other people to like or love you. * Beauty & The Beast. The movie portrays Belle as being stuck in an abusive relationship. Instead of leaving the beast, Belle gives up being with her family to live in isolation being yelled, only hoping for the beast to change into a nicer and better person. Even when Belle leaves the castle to help her father, she ends up returning not that much later, like most victims of abuse. The beast eventually changes into the person Belle wants, Disney makes it seem like if you stick with a bad situation, you will eventually be happy in the end. * Aladdin. This film shows how women are always believing and giving into men. Aladdin lies to Jasmine throughout the entire movie claiming he loves her, but all he really wants to do is marry her so he can become the future sultan. * All Disney princesses are displayed with size zero waists, skinny limbs, and even small feet. This unnatural, and unhealthy, body size presented in Disney's animated characters however, is what society calls for. Our society views a slender, hourglass figure as beautiful, and the media reflects that. Disney's rhetoric on body image demonstrates to viewers that to be beautiful and successful, one must be thin. 🏅 10 essential life lessons from my #athlete father… My dad decided to be a professional athlete at the age of 13. He used every minute outside of his school classes on training, and got in his dream school NTNU Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences to receive education along with all the best athletes and sport coaches of Taiwan. I grew up watching him and learning how to deal with failures and injury recoveries from all the practices. I learned how to treat his wounds, and most importantly, how to treat my own wounds. We used to have a guest room in our house and my dad would always take the students from less fortunate families home (such as having family members with drug-addiction or abusive behaviors) and let them live here for months or even years. Indeed, not all of us is born with a body that is built to be an athlete. Yet what I learned from growing up watching the daily training and going on tournaments with the national team that my dad coaches is that the athlete’s mindset is something everyone can take from. 💪🏼 Here are the 10 life lessons I’d love to share with you: 1 / Competition is not about winning, it’s about being the best version of yourself. 2 / If you start a race, you have to finish it. Otherwise, don’t start. 3 / You don’t know who will win or lose until the finish line. 4 / Stay second until the last minute, so you have a goal to surpass till the end. 5 / Don’t be afraid to fall, you can always get back up. 6 / Whatever conditions you are in, you must learn to adjust and perform your best. 7 / You might only get one shot so be prepared. 8 / The result doesn’t matter, the process does. 9 / The best athlete needs 1% talent and 99% hard work.
