🌻Adobe(ADBE)電話會議內容讀後感

ADBE前兩天發表財報了.

這次ADBE在財報後下跌, 主要是兩個原因(如下). 不過個人覺得是瑕不掩瑜:
1. 因為之前已經漲了不少(投資人期望太高)
2. 因為Digital Marketing這部分的業務受到季節性的影響, 所以表現不是很突出(沒有比預期高出很多)
a. net new Digital Media ARR (3% beat vs guide, vs 15% beat in 2Q21 vs 35% beat in 3Q20).
b. 有分析師在問(“Maybe just -- can we double-click on the seasonality commentary in the quarter? Because if we look at the beat versus guidance on net new digital media ARR, it looks, at the same time you had the weakest beat, but then the strongest guide in the last three years, which kind of speaks to and confirm some of those seasonality comments that you made.)
i. 高層對此的回答是, 主要是疫情後, 加上正值夏季, 大家的日子回復到正常&放假外出, 所以這部分的業務有受到影響(I think going into the quarter, we had expected that the consumer with a little bit more return to normalcy as what's happening in the environment.)
ii. 高層又說了一些話, 不過重點就是他不認為這是甚麼大事”So, net-net, I would say that the growth prospects for that particular business and the growth drivers remain intact. But again, very much in line. And this is what we feel good about the insights that we're getting on the business.”
iii. 也提到, Q4通常會是digital marketing業務的旺季(表現會不俗的意思)

另外, 覺得這次令我印象深刻的是, 當高層與分析師提到這些事情:
• 常在一些公司的電話會議中提到omnichannel這個字(疫情後, 更明顯了). 這次高層也有提到. ADBE可說是omnichannel概念股:
o “I mean, a big part of that is more and more companies are thirdly doing the multi-channel omnichannel, whatever they want to call it. And I think that's only going to continue to be a driver of our Digital Experience Solutions. Because today that stable stakes and so we just look at it and say whether you're shopping in-store over they are shopping online. You need a solution that treats you like a customer that we know of.”
• 網路上影片(video)的興起, 以及串流影音, 有提高了Adobe的營收天花板(用句分析師的術語, 就是TAM (total addressable market) expansion.
• 當使用者製作了越來越多的內容, 內容管理(content management)的能力就越顯重要, 內容上的流程管理(workflow)也越顯重要. Adobe的產品能夠幫內容製作者解決這樣的問題.
• 而Adobe各產品間的相容性, 標準化, 整合能力, 是它的競爭優勢之一:
o And one of the things we did really well is what we called our named user deployment and how, you know, when we have these enterprise licensing agreements, we offer enterprises the ability to download and distribute within the companies. And the more we do training and evangelism of the products, that leads to adoption. So, I would say there's an element of standardization, there's an element of more content.

而最近ADBE有個新聞, 引起了我的注意, 就是它即將在自己的平台上, 提供付款服務(payment service). 根據之前研究SHOP的經驗, 這有可能會對股價造成一定的漲幅:
On Sept. 15, Adobe announced that it will add payment services to its e-commerce platform this year to help merchants accept credit cards and other ways of paying. The move will deepen Adobe's rivalry with e-commerce firm Shopify (SHOP).
For the service, Adobe has partnered with PayPal (PYPL), which will process a variety of payment types, including credit and debit cards as well as PayPal's own payment and buy-now-pay-later offerings.

🌻我喜歡的Apple TV影集, "Ted Lasso", 是這次艾美獎的大贏家, 很多主要演員都得獎了.

很高興這兩年, 因為有這部戲的陪伴, 讓我撐過了疫情, 家人離世, 以及一些烏煙瘴氣的事情.

前幾天看演員的得獎影片, 一位娛樂記者問得獎的男配角(也是編劇之一)說, 你覺得這部片的核心思想是甚麼. 他說, be curious, not judgemental.

就像得獎的女演員在劇中一開始是很鴨霸很壞心的球隊主人, 但這樣做是因為被前夫傷透了心, 所以想要弄垮離婚後分到的財產(也是前夫的最愛--球隊); 外表看起來永遠陽光燦爛做啦啦隊的男主角, 在青少年時父親自殺, 造成了他心裡永遠的痛&障礙(讓他在球賽時, 會有突發恐懼症).

我們每個人其實都有很多面, 很多個故事. 尤其在社群, 大家都是萍水相逢, 對彼此的了解都是非常片面的; 而有時候在社群裡, 看到有人會因為只看到一個面向, 就去下斷語. 這其實是人之常情很難避免, 所以我們需要常用第二層思考去提醒自己. 社群裡需要更多的同理心.

│不用再猜了，新歡是 Universal！Christopher Nolan的下一部導演作品將由 Universal 發行│

• 幾天前 Deadline 才獨家報導導演 Christopher Nolan 的下一部電影將以原子彈之父 J. Robert Oppenheimer 為主角，並且正在尋求 Warner 以外的發行商合作。今天 Deadline 再度爆出獨家消息，指出 Universal Pictures 確定將投資並發行 Nolan 這部明年春天即將開拍的新片。Nolan 和他的長期製片夥伴也是他的妻子 Emma Thomas 將透過他們的製片公司 Syncopy 的名義繼續擔任製片。

• 雖然 Christopher Nolan 和他的經紀公司仍然有向 Warner Bros. 的主席 Toby Emmerich 和執行長 Ann Sarnoff 討論過這個製作案，但最後進入決選的只有 Universal、MGM 和 Sony 這三家片廠。如今確定由 Universal 勝出，也意味著2000年的《Memento 記憶拼圖》以來 Nolan 與 Warner 長達20年的緊密合作關係終於畫上休止符。雙方之間的嫌隙是從去年疫情發生以來關於《Tenet 天能》的上映日期和上映形式有不同想法開始。Nolan 對於稍後 Warner 對2021大片採行與 HBO Max 同步上架的發行方式非常不滿，甚至還公開說出 HBO Max 是世界上最爛的串流服務之類的氣話。外界早就在猜測 Nolan 最終會與 Warner 分手，投靠更信仰電影院體驗而非串流經濟的片廠。結果還真讓他千挑萬選找到了。

• 有趣的是 Universal 其實是去年疫情之中好萊塢第一家甘冒電影院產業抵制的風險打破發行空窗期的公司。首波受到疫情影響的電影《Trolls World Tour 魔髮精靈唱遊世界》後來被 Universal 直接上架到 VOD 數位平台上零售，同時也在電影院同步上映（但當時美國已經有大量電影院因為疫情停業，所謂的「上映」其實是象徵意義地發行）。Universal 因此在去年成為千夫所指的罪人。但後來包含 Warner 和 Disney 等片廠陸續採取了更激進的同步上架到自家串流平台的做法。於是兩權相害取其輕，現在 Universal 又變成好人了。

• 巧合的是 Universal 的母公司 Comcast 的財務長 Michael Cavanagh 正好在另外一場訪問中說明了他們的串流策略。Universal 的母公司也有經營串流服務 Peacock ，只是 Comcast 沒有採用像 Disney 那樣激進的做法——將自家影片版權全部收回，新片也一律 Disney+ 專屬。即便目前為止也有2部 Universal 電影曾被採用同步上架串流，但他們的做法比較是實驗性質，從未大規模採用。Comcast 的財務長說他們對於空窗期採取更「創新」的做法—— Universal 新片從電影院下檔之後，會在 Peacock 上架4個月，緊接著會下架影片並授權給 Amazon 或 Netflix 上架，去外頭打工賺錢。Comcast 這種做法完全是出自財務上的動機，要讓 Universal 電影盡可能賺更多錢。然而看在 Christopher Nolan 眼中，至少他們守住了電影院的專屬發行窗口。

• Universal 也是努力在疫情中賣出最票房最成功的電影《F9 玩命關頭9》的片廠。過去年度票房總結時， Universal 經常是少數能與 Disney 爭冠的強勁對手，而且他們的勝利甚至完全不仰賴漫畫超級英雄。他們手上有實力不輸給超級英雄的超級恐龍——侏羅紀世界系列以及快要跟超級英雄一樣荒謬的玩命關頭系列。不過值得注意的是，Universal 在製作預算上有比較節制的歷史，不像 Christopher Nolan 的前任交往對象 Warner 那樣隨便哪部電影都花超過2億美元。因此 Nolan 這一次可能需要省吃儉用一下，至少不能再隨便召喚昂貴的 Leonardo DiCaprio 或是波音747之類的昂貴道具。

• Observer 則注意到 Universal 片廠主席 Donna Langley 已經在A級創作者和明星之間建立了良好的口碑，讓 Universal 成為許多人的合作首選。Steven Spielberg 和 Universal 數十年如一日的合作關係一直是好萊塢的傳奇。而有 Spielberg 接班人架勢的 《Get Out 逃出絕命鎮》導演則是在最近幾個禮拜才從 Amazon 轉移到 Universal 旗下。而對 Christopher Nolan 來說更有吸引力的是 Universal 早先發行 M. Night Shyamalan 的新片《Old 詭老》更採用了長達75天的空窗期才上數位平台，而且甚至有可能根本不會上架自家串流平台 Peacock（而是去了別家）。

• 當然如果 Christopher Nolan 最不希望未來的合作對象太重視自家串流服務的話，沒有自營串流服務的 Sony 原本應該是首選。短期內，至少 Nolan 的下部新片之前 Sony 不會突然轉向自營串流。問題是 Sony 有直接以高價拋售未上映影片給那最有錢的串流平台比如 Netflix 或Amazon的記錄。

• 無論如何今天的新聞都是 Warner 的壞消息。他們不僅失去一個長年的台柱，而且連另一個當家台柱《沙丘》導演 Denis Villeneuve 都意有所指地暗示他對於整個沙丘宇宙的發展規劃並沒有全然得到 Warner 的支持。Villeneuve 可能沒有別的意思，但也可能只是顧及電影未上映而把感情裂痕包裝成輕描淡寫的禮貌說法。如果後者成真，Warner 和創作者之間的關係真可能在2021年的發行策略實驗之後像骨牌一般連續倒下。

材料:
板豆腐 1盒 firm tofu 1 box
豬絞肉 300克 minced pork 300g
蔥末 適量 chopped green onion q.s.
水 150毫升 water 150ml
辣豆瓣 100毫升 chili bean sauce 100ml
醬油 30毫升 soy sauce 30ml
糖 30毫升 sugar 30ml
太白粉 2茶匙 tapioca starch 2tsp.

做法:
1.依照醬料瓶的刻度，加入水、辣豆瓣醬、醬油、糖和太白粉，搖勻後備用。
2.熱鍋後加入適量的油，放入豬絞肉翻炒至絞肉呈白色。
3.將做法1的醬料到入，拌勻後續煮1分鐘。
4.加入切好的板豆腐，拌勻後即可。

Hello friends! Today we're super excited to share with you how to make airy and moist chiffon cake with crème chantilly(or you can call it Chiffon pound cake too).

A chiffon cake is a very classic light cake like angel food cake, it’s airy texture and also super moist and bouncy. But this chiffon cake has a different look, we use a loaf mold to bake it, so it looks like a pound cake, then pipe delicious chantilly cream inside the cake, very easy and simple, but incredibly yummy.

About the chiffon cake, the recipe is from a famous Japanese pâtissier 津田陽子 who is base in Kyoto. Her chiffon cake recipe is made with melted butter instead of vegetable oil, she created a special method to make the cake full of buttery aroma, and also very soft. If you’re a fan of chiffon cake, don’t miss this video. :)

How to make Fluffy Chiffon Cake with crème chantilly Recipe
Fluffy Chiffon Cake Recipe

☞ Paper Mold size: 14.5x7x5.5cm

✎ Ingredients
☞ For the cake
egg yolk 2 (room temperature)
egg white 2
granulated sugar 50g
unsalted butter 32g, cut into cubes
milk 32g
cake flour 40g
baking powder 0.8g
a pinch of salt

☞ For the filling (crème chantilly)
whipping cream 150g
powdered sugar 20g

✎ Instructions
1. Add butter cubes and milk in a small bowl, then place it in a hot water bath to warm the milk and melt the butter.
2. Crack the eggs, separate egg whites and egg yolks in two different mixing bowls.
3. Whisk the yolks until pale and thick. Set aside.
4. Beat the egg whites with an electric hand mixer on medium speed for 1 minute, then add the sugar one-third at a time, beat 30 seconds before adding the next.
5. After adding the rest of sugar, continue beating for 2.5 minutes to build volume, switch to low speed to beat for 1~1.5 minutes or until soft firm peaks.
6. Pour the melted butter and milk mixture into egg yolk mixture and mix well. Sift the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt, mix well until glossy shine and smooth texture.
7. Take 1/3 of the meringue and use a hand whisk to mix well with egg yolk batter.
8. Gently pour the egg yolk batter into meringue, gently fold then carefully with hand whisk until combined, then use the spatula to fold them until smooth.
9. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Preheat the oven to 170C, bake for 25 minutes.
10. Once baked, remove from the oven and turn it upside down to cool completely.
11. Pour the whipping cream into a freeze mixing bowl, add powdered sugar, and use a balloon whisk to beat until the cream thickens as soft peaks. You should have nicely whipping cream in about 2 minutes, more cream will take a bit longer. Add the whipping cream into a piping bag.
12. Using a chopstick to make a tunnel from two sides of the cake. Pipe the whipped cream into the cake. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the cake. Chill at least one hour before serving.

桂皮一小片，piece of Chinese cinnamon stick

小茴香1/4小勺，1/4 tsp fennel seeds

陈皮1/2小块，1/2 piece of dried citrus peel

生抽2大勺，2 tbsp light soy sauce

冰糖20g，20g rock sugar

植物油1/2大勺，1/2 tbsp oil


蜜汁版：

盐，salt

蜂蜜3大勺，3 tbsp honey


香辣版：

郫县豆瓣1小勺，1 tsp broad bean paste

辣椒面2小勺，2 tsp crushed chili

花椒粉1/2小勺，1/2 tsp szechuan pepper powder

孜然粉1/4小勺，1/4 tsp cumin powder

熟白芝麻1小勺，1tsp toasted white sesame

植物油2大勺，2 tbsp oil
