📖斑點、汙點📖

✔️spot有多重意義,用來表示斑點時,指的是圓形、顏色不同、平滑度不同(較粗造或較平滑)的斑點,特別指液體造成的污漬,也指人體或動物身上的斑點或胎記。較少抽象的意義,如個性或某種光榮記錄的汙點。

✔️stain表示不容易去除的污漬,尤其是液體如咖啡、墨水等造成的,也特別用在人性的罪惡(例如stain of original sin, stain of evil, guilty stain)。

✔️smear是指黏的、油膩的、或骯髒的污點,通常是被抹上或擦上的片狀 (例如a smear of blood, a smear of paint, smear test抹片檢查),也可以指中傷,誹謗(例如smear campaign)。可指身體皮膚上的污點。另外cervical smear testing 表示子宮頸抹片檢查。

✔️Blot尤指墨漬、破壞景觀的建物、人格的汙點、或破壞好印象的事情。當動詞時表示吸乾或去除(例如blotting paper吸墨紙,facial blotting paper吸油面紙)。

✔️blemish強調破壞完美外表的污點或傷疤。

✔️smudge等於smear,尤其指小範圍內的汙點。較少抽象的意義,如個性或某種光榮記錄的汙點。
