I fell silent for a while, asked him to fetch me another one, and took the opportunity to search online.
It turned out that I should start to explain Menshen, the ancient door gods Shenshu and Yulu. It was a long bed time story for kids – what if he even asks me the meaning of the gods’ name?
“So our new year will be safe and sound.”
Fortunately, the reasons behind all rituals could be simply put it this way.
