上帝賜給人類腦袋跟嘴巴，正如祂賜給人類手與腳，有田徑比賽、有拔河比賽，當然也會有辯論比賽。不過，國內教育界從來沒有認真重視辯論，甚至很多人都以一種「書呆子」（Nerd）的眼光來看待。

換做別的國家，或許問題不大，但問題是，台灣是華人世界碩果僅存的民主國家，而民主是離不開思考與辯論，唯有透過辯論來挖掘問題，透過問題來追尋答案，透過答案來幫助思考，人民才會做出更正確的抉擇，民主的優勢就會益加彰顯。

正是這份純粹性，本文提到的辯論人儘管都已經離開校園很久很久，在工作上也都非常忙碌，但每個人都還是熱愛著校園辯論，一有機會就會回去看看，當當裁判、指點指點晚輩，也有的是出錢贊助辯論活動，甚至僱用助理時，也會特別優先選用辯論人。
