【李友專 教授】提出幾個智慧醫療發展環境的關鍵數字。
▸8萬，是目前人類疾病的種類數，當人類疾病種類越來越多、越趨複雜，醫生誤診的機率也一併提高。
▸3 億 6,000 萬，是台灣每一年全台醫療院所開出的處方箋張數
▸7千億，是台灣健保一年的費用。

由於國內人口逐漸轉型，邁入高齡化社會後所面臨之社會照顧資源、醫療健康政策問題等顯得日益重要，亦為政府刻不容緩的挑戰。另一方面，隨著社會結構的改變、醫藥科技的發達，民眾的健康思維已經從過去單純的醫療照護，提前到個人健康管理，故結合資通訊、雲端運算技術以擴大導入醫療照護與個人保健應用，已成為現階段產、官、學、研各界皆須相當重視的課題，同時也將為相關產業帶來龐大的商機。
