中國和台灣正成為匹敵的數位國家—

China and Taiwan are becoming digital states in parallel —
China as a digital authoritarian regime, and Taiwan as a digital democracy.

There is no clear model of what a digital democracy is yet, but Taiwan is in the process of creating one.
Digital Minister of Taiwan Audrey Tang described the OGP as “an international initiative that advocates core values such as transparency, accountability, participation and inclusion, with an emphasis on cooperation and co-creation of the government and civil society. These are all in line with what we are doing here in Taiwan.” Tang hopes the Open Government National Action Plan will be a path for Taiwan to enter the OGP.

Tang is also optimistic: “I believe many of the challenges we face today, including the pandemic and the infodemic, can be overcome by deepening democracy and promoting what I call “People-Public-Private Partnerships.”

According to Lim, the key difference between Taiwan and China is that in Taiwan, there is oversight for the use of technology, such as de-linking data, and time-limits to expanded powers during the pandemic.

“In a digital democracy, transparency is about making the state transparent to the public,” she continued. “Under digital authoritarianism, the word ‘transparency’ means making citizens transparent to the state.”

The digitization of Taiwan’s democracy may not be complete, but the efforts of its government and civil society point to a viable alternative to digital authoritarianism. The digital tools and policies to reform its government can be applied in other democracies.

“For China, maybe only one thing is certain, that the propaganda narrative they ran for years— that democracy is not for Asia— is no longer appealing under Taiwan’s progress,” said Ttcat.

This is America’s day. This is democracy’s day.

A day of history and hope. Of renewal and resolve.

Through a crucible for the ages America has been tested anew and America has risen to the challenge.

Today, we celebrate the triumph not of a candidate, but of a cause, the cause of democracy.

The will of the people has been heard and the will of the people has been heeded.

We have learned again that democracy is precious.

Democracy is fragile.

And at this hour, my friends, democracy has prevailed.

So now, on this hallowed ground where just days ago violence sought to shake this Capitol’s very foundation, we come together as one nation, under God, indivisible, to carry out the peaceful transfer of power as we have for more than two centuries.

We look ahead in our uniquely American way – restless, bold, optimistic – and set our sights on the nation we know we can be and we must be.

I thank my predecessors of both parties for their presence here.

I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

You know the resilience of our Constitution and the strength of our nation.

As does President Carter, who I spoke to last night but who cannot be with us today, but whom we salute for his lifetime of service.

I have just taken the sacred oath each of these patriots took — an oath first sworn by George Washington.

But the American story depends not on any one of us, not on some of us, but on all of us.

On “We the People” who seek a more perfect Union.

This is a great nation and we are a good people.

Over the centuries through storm and strife, in peace and in war, we have come so far. But we still have far to go.

We will press forward with speed and urgency, for we have much to do in this winter of peril and possibility.

Much to repair.

Much to restore.

Much to heal.

Much to build.

And much to gain.

Few periods in our nation’s history have been more challenging or difficult than the one we’re in now.

A once-in-a-century virus silently stalks the country.

It’s taken as many lives in one year as America lost in all of World War II.

Millions of jobs have been lost.

Hundreds of thousands of businesses closed.

A cry for racial justice some 400 years in the making moves us. The dream of justice for all will be deferred no longer.

A cry for survival comes from the planet itself. A cry that can’t be any more desperate or any more clear.

And now, a rise in political extremism, white supremacy, domestic terrorism that we must confront and we will defeat.

To overcome these challenges – to restore the soul and to secure the future of America – requires more than words.

It requires that most elusive of things in a democracy:

Unity.

Unity.

In another January in Washington, on New Year’s Day 1863, Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

When he put pen to paper, the President said, “If my name ever goes down into history it will be for this act and my whole soul is in it.”

My whole soul is in it.

Today, on this January day, my whole soul is in this:

Bringing America together.

Uniting our people.

And uniting our nation.

I ask every American to join me in this cause.

Uniting to fight the common foes we face:

Anger, resentment, hatred.

Extremism, lawlessness, violence.

Disease, joblessness, hopelessness.

With unity we can do great things. Important things.

We can right wrongs.

We can put people to work in good jobs.

We can teach our children in safe schools.

We can overcome this deadly virus.

We can reward work, rebuild the middle class, and make health care
secure for all.

We can deliver racial justice.

We can make America, once again, the leading force for good in the world.

I know speaking of unity can sound to some like a foolish fantasy.

I know the forces that divide us are deep and they are real.

But I also know they are not new.

Our history has been a constant struggle between the American ideal that we are all created equal and the harsh, ugly reality that racism, nativism, fear, and demonization have long torn us apart.

The battle is perennial.

Victory is never assured.

Through the Civil War, the Great Depression, World War, 9/11, through struggle, sacrifice, and setbacks, our “better angels” have always prevailed.

In each of these moments, enough of us came together to carry all of us forward.

And, we can do so now.

History, faith, and reason show the way, the way of unity.

We can see each other not as adversaries but as neighbors.

We can treat each other with dignity and respect.

We can join forces, stop the shouting, and lower the temperature.

For without unity, there is no peace, only bitterness and fury.

No progress, only exhausting outrage.

No nation, only a state of chaos.

This is our historic moment of crisis and challenge, and unity is the path forward.

And, we must meet this moment as the United States of America.

If we do that, I guarantee you, we will not fail.

We have never, ever, ever failed in America when we have acted together.

And so today, at this time and in this place, let us start afresh.

All of us.

Let us listen to one another.

Hear one another.
See one another.

Show respect to one another.

Politics need not be a raging fire destroying everything in its path.

Every disagreement doesn’t have to be a cause for total war.

And, we must reject a culture in which facts themselves are manipulated and even manufactured.

My fellow Americans, we have to be different than this.

America has to be better than this.

And, I believe America is better than this.

Just look around.

Here we stand, in the shadow of a Capitol dome that was completed amid the Civil War, when the Union itself hung in the balance.

Yet we endured and we prevailed.

Here we stand looking out to the great Mall where Dr. King spoke of his dream.

Here we stand, where 108 years ago at another inaugural, thousands of protestors tried to block brave women from marching for the right to vote.

Today, we mark the swearing-in of the first woman in American history elected to national office – Vice President Kamala Harris.

Don’t tell me things can’t change.

Here we stand across the Potomac from Arlington National Cemetery, where heroes who gave the last full measure of devotion rest in eternal peace.

And here we stand, just days after a riotous mob thought they could use violence to silence the will of the people, to stop the work of our democracy, and to drive us from this sacred ground.

That did not happen.

It will never happen.

Not today.

Not tomorrow.

Not ever.

To all those who supported our campaign I am humbled by the faith you have placed in us.

To all those who did not support us, let me say this: Hear me out as we move forward. Take a measure of me and my heart.

And if you still disagree, so be it.

That’s democracy. That’s America. The right to dissent peaceably, within the guardrails of our Republic, is perhaps our nation’s greatest strength.

Yet hear me clearly: Disagreement must not lead to disunion.

And I pledge this to you: I will be a President for all Americans.

I will fight as hard for those who did not support me as for those who did.

Many centuries ago, Saint Augustine, a saint of my church, wrote that a people was a multitude defined by the common objects of their love.

What are the common objects we love that define us as Americans?

I think I know.

Opportunity.

Security.

Liberty.

Dignity.

Respect.

Honor.

And, yes, the truth.

Recent weeks and months have taught us a painful lesson.

There is truth and there are lies.

Lies told for power and for profit.

And each of us has a duty and responsibility, as citizens, as Americans, and especially as leaders – leaders who have pledged to honor our Constitution and protect our nation — to defend the truth and to defeat the lies.

I understand that many Americans view the future with some fear and trepidation.

I understand they worry about their jobs, about taking care of their families, about what comes next.

I get it.

But the answer is not to turn inward, to retreat into competing factions, distrusting those who don’t look like you do, or worship the way you do, or don’t get their news from the same sources you do.

We must end this uncivil war that pits red against blue, rural versus urban, conservative versus liberal.

We can do this if we open our souls instead of hardening our hearts.

If we show a little tolerance and humility.

If we’re willing to stand in the other person’s shoes just for a moment.
Because here is the thing about life: There is no accounting for what fate will deal you.

There are some days when we need a hand.

There are other days when we’re called on to lend one.

That is how we must be with one another.

And, if we are this way, our country will be stronger, more prosperous, more ready for the future.

My fellow Americans, in the work ahead of us, we will need each other.

We will need all our strength to persevere through this dark winter.

We are entering what may well be the toughest and deadliest period of the virus.

We must set aside the politics and finally face this pandemic as one nation.

I promise you this: as the Bible says weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.

We will get through this, together

The world is watching today.

So here is my message to those beyond our borders: America has been tested and we have come out stronger for it.

We will repair our alliances and engage with the world once again.

Not to meet yesterday’s challenges, but today’s and tomorrow’s.

We will lead not merely by the example of our power but by the power of our example.

We will be a strong and trusted partner for peace, progress, and security.

We have been through so much in this nation.

And, in my first act as President, I would like to ask you to join me in a moment of silent prayer to remember all those we lost this past year to the pandemic.

To those 400,000 fellow Americans – mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

We will honor them by becoming the people and nation we know we can and should be.

Let us say a silent prayer for those who lost their lives, for those they left behind, and for our country.

Amen.

This is a time of testing.

We face an attack on democracy and on truth.

A raging virus.

Growing inequity.

The sting of systemic racism.

A climate in crisis.

America’s role in the world.

Any one of these would be enough to challenge us in profound ways.

But the fact is we face them all at once, presenting this nation with the gravest of responsibilities.

Now we must step up.

All of us.

It is a time for boldness, for there is so much to do.

And, this is certain.

We will be judged, you and I, for how we resolve the cascading crises of our era.

Will we rise to the occasion?

Will we master this rare and difficult hour?

Will we meet our obligations and pass along a new and better world for our children?

I believe we must and I believe we will.

And when we do, we will write the next chapter in the American story.

It’s a story that might sound something like a song that means a lot to me.

It’s called “American Anthem” and there is one verse stands out for me:

“The work and prayers
of centuries have brought us to this day
What shall be our legacy?
What will our children say?…
Let me know in my heart
When my days are through
America
America
I gave my best to you.”

Let us add our own work and prayers to the unfolding story of our nation.

If we do this then when our days are through our children and our children’s children will say of us they gave their best.

They did their duty.

They healed a broken land.
My fellow Americans, I close today where I began, with a sacred oath.

Before God and all of you I give you my word.

I will always level with you.

I will defend the Constitution.

I will defend our democracy.

I will defend America.

I will give my all in your service thinking not of power, but of possibilities.

Not of personal interest, but of the public good.

And together, we shall write an American story of hope, not fear.

Of unity, not division.

Of light, not darkness.

An American story of decency and dignity.

Of love and of healing.

Of greatness and of goodness.

May this be the story that guides us.

The story that inspires us.

The story that tells ages yet to come that we answered the call of history.

We met the moment.

That democracy and hope, truth and justice, did not die on our watch but thrived.

That our America secured liberty at home and stood once again as a beacon to the world.

That is what we owe our forebearers, one another, and generations to follow.

So, with purpose and resolve we turn to the tasks of our time.

Sustained by faith.

Driven by conviction.

And, devoted to one another and to this country we love with all our hearts.

各位，我跟我在參眾兩院的同事們都瞭解，世人正在觀看，他們今天在看著我們，因此這是我要對國外傳達的訊息：美國受到試煉，而我們因此更為茁壯。我們將修補我們與盟國的關係，再次與世界往來，不是為了面對昨天的挑戰，而是今天和明天的挑戰。我們將不是藉著我們力量的典範來領導，而是憑藉我們典範的力量。我們將會是和平、進步與安定堅強而且可信賴的夥伴。

各位都知道，我們國家經歷了許多事情。我做為總統要做的第一件事，是要請你們跟我一起，為過去一年因疫情喪生的人們默禱，紀念那40萬個同胞，母親、父親、丈夫、妻子、兒子、女兒、朋友、鄰居和同事們。我們要成為我們自知可以成為、而且應該成為的人民和國家，以此榮耀他們。因此我請大家，一起為離世和失去親友的人們，還有我們的國家默禱，……阿們。

各位，這是試煉的時刻。我們面對對民主與真相的攻擊、正在肆虐的病毒、嚴重的不公、系統性的種族歧視、陷入危機的氣候，還有美國在全球的角色問題。其中任何一點都足以對我們構成嚴重的挑戰。但事實是，我們在同時面對這一切，這讓美國挑起我們最重大的責任之一。我們將受到試煉，我們能迎接挑戰嗎？這是大膽的時候，因為有好多事情要做。

而我向各位保證，這點是肯定的：你我將被評判，標準是我們如何解決這個時代一一發生的危機。我們將迎接挑戰。我們能否戰勝這個罕見而艱難的時刻？我們能否履行我們的義務，把一個新的、更好的世界傳給我們的下一代？我相信我們必須那麼做，而且我相信你們也這麼認為。我相信我們會，而且當我們做到，我們將寫下美國歷史偉大的新章節。美國的故事。

這個故事可能像一首對我來說深具意義的歌曲，它叫「美國頌」（American Anthem），它有一段歌詞至少對我來說很特別，它是這樣說的：「數百年的努力與祈禱讓我們來到今天，我們有什麼能傳承下去？我們的子孫會怎麼說？當我的日子結束，讓我內心知曉，美國，美國，我已為你付出最大努力。」

讓我們把我們自己的努力和祈禱，加到我們偉大的國家仍在發展的故事之中。如果我們做到，那麼當我們的日子結束，我們的子孫和他們的子孫會說：「他們付出了最大的努力，他們盡了他們的責任，他們修補了破碎的國家。」

同胞們，我的結語要跟開頭一樣，有個神聖的誓言。在上帝和各位面前，我向你們保證。我將始終開誠布公，我將捍衛憲法，我將捍衛我們的民主。我將捍衛美國，全心全力奉獻為你們服務，心中想的不是權力，而是可能性，不是私利，而是公眾的利益。我們將一起寫下美國希望的故事，而非恐懼的故事，是團結而非分歧，是光明而非黑暗。是禮貌與尊嚴、愛與療癒、偉大與善良的故事。

希望這是引導我們的故事、啟發我們的故事，是能告訴未來的世世代代我們回應歷史的召喚並且回應了時代挑戰的故事。民主與希望、真相與公義沒有在我們的時代衰亡，而是生生不息，美國固守了國內的自由，並且再次成為世界的明燈。這是我們對先人、對彼此和對未來世世代代的責任。

因此，我們要有目標、有決心，把注意力轉向這個時代的任務，靠信心來維持，靠信念來驅使，為彼此和我們全心熱愛的國家而奉獻。願上帝保佑美國，保守我們的三軍。謝謝美國！

我的朋友小薛是個會認馬桶的人，從小就無法在陌生的馬桶上順利排便。​
　　　​
這個性格雖然為他的生活帶來許多困擾，卻也因此讓他遇見了一位生命中的貴人。​
　　​　​​
我在新竹念書的時候，朋友傑森在新竹租了間三房兩廳的窩，成立了肥宅之家新竹分部。​
　　　　​
雖然我不住那裡，也偶爾過去聊天打屁，順便蹭吃蹭喝。​
　　　​
有陣子肥宅之家浴室地面的磁磚似乎有所破損，洗澡時會往樓下滲水。​
　　​
房東於是聯絡了水電行，水電行老闆金師傅在電話中初步判斷是馬桶的問題，可能要把整座馬桶拆掉。​
　　​
肥宅之家居民之一的小薛對這個決定相當不諒解。​
　　​
他必須跟每座新認識的馬桶培養親暱度，彼此交流談心後才能夠在互信互賴的關係下拉屎，平均費時三週。​
　　​
漏水的狀況十分嚴峻，金師傅說最壞情況是除了馬桶以外，整間浴室的地板磁磚都要敲掉重鋪，預計工期一週。​
　　​
這意味著有整整七天的時間，小薛都沒辦法在熟悉的馬桶上大便。​
　　​
　　​
「這個決定太突然了，我還沒有養好新的馬桶。」小薛抗議。​
　　​
「只好憋著囉，這幾天少吃一點。」傑森說。​
　　​
「那不然你怎麽辦？難道真的一星期不上廁所？」小薛問。​
　　​
「我會去樓下公園拉，拉完用沙子埋起來。」傑森隨口胡扯。​
　　​
「……明天水電金師傅幾點到？」小薛閉上眼睛。​
　　​
「房東跟我說十點。」傑森說。​
　　​
「明早九點，我要上這禮拜最後一次大號，誰都別跟我搶。」小薛氣噗噗摔上房門。​
　　​
　　​
然而隔天早上八點半，金師傅就用房東給的鑰匙打開門進了浴室。​
　　​
剛睡醒的小薛渾身上下只穿著一條四角褲，叼著牙刷站在房間門口，滿臉錯愕。​
　　​
金師傅仔細摸著磁磚地面，眉頭緊皺。​
　　​
　　​
「你們這個情況很奇怪，地上已經補過防水膠，樓下還是漏水，可能要觀察一下水是從哪裡滲下去的。」​
　　​
「隨便，能不能快一點弄好？」小薛夾著屁股問。​
　　​
「這情況有點棘手，你們先出去一下。」金師傅揮揮手。​
　　​
　　​
我跟傑森依言退到廁所之外。​
　　​
金師傅順手關上門，然後反鎖。​
　　​
幾秒後，門後傳來解皮帶的聲音。​
　　​
　　​
「……金師傅？」小薛聲音顫抖。​
　　​
「歹勢啦，我先借一下廁所。」金師傅說道。​
　　​
「你如果沒有馬上要拆馬桶，等等可不可以讓我先用一下？」小薛問。​
　　​
「這樣可能會影響施工喔。」金師傅一口回絕：「你讓我們趕快弄一弄，你方便我們也方便啦。」​
　　​
　　​
小薛聞言也只能幽怨地退回房間，等候金師傅的觀察結果。​
　　​
殊不知，這一觀察就是三天過去。​
　　​
金師傅連續三天早上都坐在肥宅之家的馬桶上拉屎，今天還變本加厲，在廁所抽起了煙。​
　　​
他每天下班離開前，都會反鎖廁所的門，然後告誡我們千萬不能在晚上使用馬桶，否則可能會造成水管堵塞，影響施工進度。​
　　​
　　​
「他到現在連一塊磁磚都還沒有敲掉，是不是在雷啊？」小薛在群組裡抱怨。​
　　​
「出錢的人是房東，房東又不是白痴，讓他們去溝通就好。」傑森無所謂地說。​
　　​
　　​
一個禮拜過去，漫長的觀察還沒有結束，唯一改變的是金師傅開始在馬桶上看報紙。​
　　​
　　​
「我覺得快要從喉嚨滿出來了，我打嗝的時候滿嘴都是屎味。」無地放屎的小薛已經憋到臉色發青。​
　　​
「想拉的時候就倒立，比較不會漏出來。」傑森繼續講幹話。​
　　​
　　​
又過了幾天，廁所還是沒有動工，小薛終於爆氣，衝到廁所對馬桶上的金師傅一震飆罵。​
　　​
　　​
「房東請你來我們家修廁所，結果你每天在這邊拉屎！花錢請你來拉屎！」小薛氣到語無倫次。​
　　​
「少年仔，你講這話就沒概念了。」​
　　​
　　​
金師傅坐在馬桶上抽菸，一整個處便不驚。​
　　​
　　​
「表面上看起來我是在拉屎，實際上呢，我是在賺錢。」​
　　​
「現在社會上流行一種說法，你去上班工作其實並不是在賺錢，是用自己的時間跟勞力在『換』錢，實際上你根本就沒賺。」​
　　​
「什麼才叫真正的賺錢？如果你在上班時間拉屎，用公司的水、抽公司的衛生紙，同時你拉屎的每分每秒都在領薪水，那才是真的賺錢你懂不懂啊？」​
　　​
　　​
金師傅一番拉屎賺錢的哲學唬得小薛一愣一愣。​
　　​
連日無法排便，使得他大腦中的血液全都匯聚到大腸去了。​
　　​
　　​
「那……那你還要觀察多久？」小薛絕望地問。​
　　​
「這很難說，我已經很努力了。」金師傅吐出一口煙。​
　　​
　　​
煙從廁所門的另一邊飄了出來。​
　　​
　　​
「但是啊，人生就像大便一樣，有時就算你已經很努力了，它也可能只是個屁。」金師傅感慨。​
　　​
　　​
真的是感慨個屁。
　　​
　　​
一個月過去，就連傑森也終於受不了每天半夜起床尿尿在寶特瓶裡的悲慘生活，越來越常睡在學校實驗室。​
　　​
小薛則在屎無葬身之地的煉獄中反覆煎熬，透過打坐冥想、調節呼吸修練身心。​
　　​
最終，他大徹徹大悟，看破紅塵，用心靈的力量抑制了腸胃蠕動。​
　　​
他的腹部不自然地鼓脹了起來，簡直像懷孕一樣。
　　​
　　​
「我覺得你這樣不太健康，差不多該去養一個新馬桶了吧？」我說。​
　　​
「我已經忘記大便是什麼感覺了。」小薛雙手合十，面色平靜。​
　　​
　　​
金師傅的聲音從廁所門後傳來。​
　　​
　　​
「拉屎呢，說穿了是一個身體與糞便相互拉扯的過程。」​
　　​
「很多事情都是一體兩面的，你在拉屎的同時，屎也在拉你。」​
　　​
　　​
「此言差矣。」小薛搖搖頭，莞爾說道：「拉屎除了身體用力以外，也牽扯到地心引力，以及身體內外的大氣壓力差。」​
　　​
「你的身體在拉屎，同時這個世界也想把屎從你的身體裡面拉出來，可以說拉屎的過程是肛門與整個世界的拔河較量。」​
　　​
「糞便就象徵著人類與大自然永恆的鬥爭，剪不斷，理還亂，唯一的處理方式就是憋住它、接納它、消化它。」​
　　​
　　​
兩人的辯論的內容早就遠遠超出我這個肉體凡胎的理解能力，我只得默默離開了肥宅之家。​
　　​
接下來的幾週，小薛與金師傅相安無事，直到傑森24歲生日那天。​
　　​
我們準備替傑森慶生，買了個蛋糕打電話叫傑森回家。​
　　​
　　​
「最近傑森不太對勁。」小薛偷偷跟我說。​
　　​
「怎麽說？」我問。​
　　​
「昨天半夜我靜坐到一半，聽見他房裡傳來敲鍵盤的聲音。」​
　　​
「你的意思是？」我皺眉。​
　　​
「我懷疑他連夜在寫碩論。」小薛語氣沉痛。​
　　​
　　​
我不禁倒抽一口涼氣，這可是相當嚴重的指控。​
　　​
小薛在多年前跟傑森簽署了不畢業協議。​
　　​
基於畢業後就要開始輪班賣肝救台灣、存錢等退休看醫生的職涯規劃，他們判斷人生中最快樂的時光就是僅剩的學生時期，因此必須善加把握，絕不能輕言畢業。​

　　​
我還以為傑森最近一直待在實驗室是因為肥宅之家廁所整修。​
　　​
難道那個男人是真的誤入歧途，整個人沉迷學習，無法自拔？​
　　​
　　​
「還是先確認一下真相吧。」我說。​
　　​
　　​
於是我們趁著傑森還沒回家，偷偷潛入他的房間，打開他的電腦。​
　　​
填滿整個螢幕的paper映入眼簾，浩浩蕩蕩寫了四十幾頁。​
　　​
　　​
「……」我們默然相顧。​
　　​
　　​
任誰都看得出來，這不是一時興起的作品。​
　　​
這是一起預謀的、有目的性的、有組織的行動。​
　　​
螢幕上排版精美的文字，彷彿正嘲笑著我們的無能為力。​
　　​
　　​
「這應該不是碩論吧？誰會用word寫碩論啊？」小薛還想逃避現實。​
　　​
「……上面有清華大學的浮水印。」我冷冷地說道。​
　　​
「我不相信，傑森不是這樣的人……」小薛抱著腦袋。​
　　​
　　​
就在這個時候，傑森剛好踏入肥宅之家的客廳。​
　　​
小薛第一時間撲了上去，抓住傑森的雙手。​
　　​
　　​
「這不是真的吧？說好的一起延畢呢？你怎麼可以騙我？」他淚流滿面。​
　　​
「傑森，碩班這種東西，沒有人在畢業的。」我也溫言相勸。​
　　​
「對啊，你想想看，只唸兩年碩士就畢業，要怎麽出社會跟人家競爭？」小薛也是語重心長：「做人還是要腳踏實地，紮紮實實地把四年修業年限唸完。」　​

　　​
傑森靜靜地看著我們，沒有說話。​
　　​
　​
「好課值得一修再修，我們再去旁聽一次計算機概論，找回昔日的熱情吧！」小薛抱著最後一絲希望提議。​

「你媽要是知道你這麼快就要畢業，她會很傷心的你知道嗎？」我也說。​
　　​
　　​
傑森輕輕掙脫了小薛的手，說道：「你們能來替我慶生，我很高興。」​
　　　​

他拿起桌上的蛋糕，遞給我。​
　　　​
　　　　​
「蛋糕你們吃吧，我差不多該接著寫了。」​
　　​
「我已經受不了這種生活了，我要在想大便的時候就能大便，我想要畢業。」​

語畢，他關上了房門，用那道薄薄的木板，將我們隔絕在他的世界之外。​
　　​
我們終於明白，已經沒有人可以阻止這個男人畢業了。​
　　​
蛋糕上的蠟燭燃到盡頭，悄悄熄滅。​
　　​
那一瞬間，小薛彷彿看見過去許多美好的回憶隨著凋零的火花一同枯萎。​
　　​
蠟油滴在手上，小薛卻感覺不到燙，因為他的內心已經完全冰冷。​
　　​
肥宅之家深厚的友情基礎，竟是建立在大便之上，何等諷刺。​
　　​
　　　　​
隔天早上，金師傅一如既往地拿著報紙，叼著菸到馬桶上報到。​
　　​
徹夜構思論文的小薛失魂落魄地抱著筆電在廚房刷牙。​
　　​
　　​
「沒睡好啊？」金師傅隔著廁所門問。​
　　​
「我想大便。」小薛說。​
　　​
「心情不好？」金師傅打了個呵欠。​
　　​
「我想大便。」小薛又說。​
　　​
「人哪，終究還是要大便的。」金師傅點點頭。​
　　​
​
兩人沉默了一會，小薛才又再度開口。​
　　​
　　​
「其實，我也想畢業，也想追上傑森的腳步，可是……可是我已經忘了要怎麽寫論文了。」​
　　​
　　​
小薛吐出一口牙膏泡沫，悔恨的淚水滾落臉頰。​
　　​
　　​
「我連要怎麽大便都忘了。」​
　　​
　　​
吱嘎──​
　　​
小薛簡直不敢相信自己的眼睛。​
　　​
闊別兩個月沒有開啟的廁所大門，竟在此時敞開。​
　　​
映入小薛眼簾的，是煥然一新的地板磁磚，以及嶄新光亮的馬桶。​
　　　　​
　　​
「大便很簡單，就是用力而已。」
　　　　​
　　　　​
金師傅在馬桶蓋上捻熄了煙頭，看著小薛的眼睛。​
　　​
　　​
「連拉屎都要用力了，你的人生憑什麼不用力？」​
　　​
　　​
小薛渾身一震，一股排山倒海的便意瞬間席捲全身。​
　　​
　　​
「你想畢業嗎？」金師傅霍然問道。​
　　　　​
「想！」小薛大吼。​
　　　　​
「有多想！」​金師傅爆喝。
　　​
「非常想！」小薛咆哮。​
　　​
「有你現在想要大便一樣那麼想嗎！」金師傅厲聲質問。​
　　​
「有！我真的好想！！！」小薛聲淚俱下。​
　　​
「很好！那還不趕快進去寫論文！」金師傅爽朗大笑。​
　　​
　　​
小薛抱著筆電，一拐一拐地衝進廁所。​
　　​
肥宅之家的馬桶鬧劇終於劃上尾聲。​
　　​
　　​
幾週後，小薛順利完成了論文，如期走出了校園，迎接嶄新的人生。​
　　​
在兩個月的時間裡，金師傅不僅修好了廁所，更修好了傑森與小薛長年積累的悲觀心態。​
　　​
我終於明白，很多事情都是一體兩面的，你以為他在雷你，其實他是在幫你。​
　　​
就像小薛一直以為他在拉屎，其實屎也拉了他一把。​
　　​
直到今天，我偶爾都還會想起金師傅。​
　　​
那位我在肥宅之家廁所裡遇見的，馬桶上的哲學家。

總統蔡英文博士學歷近期頻遭質疑，總統府今（23日）下午召開記者會釋疑，總統府發言人黃重諺、張惇涵與律師黃帝穎今天共同出席記者會，出示具有35年歷史、泛黃的總統論文原件。黃重諺提出三點結論，包括蔡英文已經決定授權國家圖書館讓她的論文得以公開閱覽，方便所有有志投入國際貿易研究者研究，產出更多論文。總統府也已向校方取得當年學生資料，將會公開證明；總統取得學位過程，經過政大、教育部、中選會等機構驗證，學位沒有問題
蔡英文總統博士論文最近引起討論，總統府兩位發言人黃重諺及張惇涵今天與三位律師舉行記者會，府方也搬出35年前的論文，說明目前在倫敦政經學院（LSE）存放的論文有缺六頁是因為翻印有疏漏，相關查找可以看到完整頁次，今天也提供給媒體參考。

口試委員是否需要簽名，張惇涵說，全世界不同國家不同系所有不同作法，LSE的做法是不需要口委簽名，查證過同期許多論文也沒有口委簽名。他也說，蔡總統的論文是當場通過，教授沒有要求修改，當年沒有word，手改很正常。

黃重諺先說明三點結論，第一，為鼓勵學術相關研究，蔡總統決定授權國家圖書館，將她的論文公開閱覽。第二，向校方取得當年學生資料，可以證明嚴謹過程取得博士學位。第三，蔡總統取得學位證書相關過程，包括政大、教育部、中選會，這麼長的時間以來都經過各階段嚴謹驗證，所以沒有問題。

黃重諺也說明兩個基本觀念，他表示，確認一個人是否從某個學校取得學歷，方法就是向授與學歷的學校查詢，校方官網有相關資訊，大部分學校規定都一樣，每一位博士生都必須繳交論文，前述這些也證明這些過程。

黃重諺也說，畢業生論文保存是校方事務，至於蔡總統的1984年倫敦大學學位證書影本，政大、教育部、倫敦大學都有保存。

黃也解釋，現場提供的原稿為什麼沒有裝訂，因為只能用影印的，至於寄給LSE的論文還缺六頁，是因為翻印有疏漏，相關查找可以看到完整頁次，今天也提供。
