    東方的瓷器(China)是以高嶺土(就是窯土)去塑型燒置的，歐洲雖然也有這種土壤，但並不具備製造瓷器的工藝，而必須由中國進口，是以中國的英文China就是得名自瓷器(china)，而china一名又是得自昌南，就是現在的景德鎮。

    至於骨瓷(Bone China)則是英國人在1794年發明，顧名思義，就是在燒製的瓷泥中添加了動物骨灰，例如豬骨或牛骨，以改善瓷器的玻化及透光度。

    之後英國殖民新加坡，也把用骨瓷喝下午茶的習慣帶到亞洲，因為在南國溫暖的氣候下人很容易懶洋洋的，自然也不會急者早早結束這午後的忙裡偷閒，而當在骨瓷長時間浸泡在茶水裡，這些家畜骨髓中的鮮美就逐漸滲入茶水的香醇中，加上南洋經常食用的麵食與提味的蔥花，就是現在風靡星馬的肉骨茶麵，據說比較講究的店家在招待重要客人時，會將肉骨茶麵裝在珍藏的骨瓷中上桌，以示慎終追遠不忘本的堅持。

    英文來了：「Taiwan enjoys full statehood, and is not part of China!」

    前幾天，外交部發布措詞強硬的新聞稿，譴責中國蠻橫阻擋台灣參與WHA年會，且少見地清楚定義台灣國家定位，釐清與中國的關係。然而，這份新聞稿竟沒有同時發布英文版。

    我們辦公室兩天來持續追蹤要求外交部，英文新聞稿終於出現了。這應該是有史以來外交部最清楚區別台灣與中國的英文宣示，至少是從2008年以來。(英文新聞稿網址：https://bit.ly/2VoEBpW )

    雖然不免還是有Republic of China不是China的尷尬，但這是我們在邁向台灣國家正常化、制憲正名的長路上所面臨的尷尬，我們一定要繼續努力，向正常的國家前進。

    大家可以多多轉貼給外國朋友，但如果對方不太了解台灣歷史，搞不懂Taiwan、China、Republic of China、People’s Republic of China之間的脈絡，我草擬以下這段短文給您的朋友先閱讀，這樣接著看台灣外交部的新聞稿就會比較懂。

    For the people who do not understand what the historical context between the Republic of China, People’s Republic of China, China and Taiwan is, you can read the following statements first, and it will be easier for you to understand the statement from Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    Taiwan is a democracy and sovereign country, which is not ruled by China(People’s Republic of China). However, the historical issues after WWII have given Taiwan the official name of " Republic of China" has always lead misunderstanding of the relationship between Taiwan and China in the international arena.

    Although Taiwan sometimes is still using the official name of "Republic of China", the fact is that Taiwan is not governed by China(People’s Republic of China). As an independent country, the people in Taiwan are still fighting for solving these historical issues left by the Allies after WWII.
